Tomo Japanese Cuisine — Restaurant in City of Yonkers

Not impressed. I visited because I was starving and I read the reviews and found that a lot of people have this spot as their go to, I thought what do I have to lose, I’m very picky with sushi so I haven’t really had that many bad encounters, I’m sure if I was less picky I would have more stories to share. But upon reading the comments I thought I had nothing to lose. The presentation looks clean, the vegetables taste fresh, the raw fish was slightly fishy, but I’ve had worse. Flavor wise, I give them a 4/10, they didn’t even try to put flavor or seasoning, it was just rice, raw fish, seaweed, not even decorated, just put together almost perfectly. But the perfection In the looks didn’t do anything to improve the taste, it was very bland sushi. The shrimp tempura roll was okay, although I’ll say that it’s hard to mess up a shrimp tempura roll, it’s usually my favorite, but it was okay here, I can’t say it tasted bad but I’ll definitely say it was my least favorite shrimp tempura roll. But the shrimp tempura was the best roll out of all the ones I tasted in this restaurant. I did get the runs next day, I wasn’t sure if it could be related, but I didn’t feel sick so I don’t want to throw them under the bus. But I’ll reiterate, their ingredients seemed fresh, they are just missing flavor. I feel sorry for the ones who commented that this was their go to, like they are living under a rock when it comes to sushi lol, go out and explore guys, that’s like saying your favorite burger is a double cheese burger from McDonald’s, go out and have a taste. Me and my kids and mom been coming here for more than 2 years. Last night we came in it was empty then all of a sudden a girls soccer team came in. Me and my family ordered first. I noticed that their food was coming before ours I asked them how their food was coming before ours the waiter said they ordered early on the phone. So I said ok. I ordered two chicken katsu and sushi. Do you know me and my kids waited an hour for our food? My kids were literally crying because they were hungry and they seen how the soccer team was getting their food first. Not once did they come to the table to say sorry for the wait they kept walking pass us like we weren’t even there but only accommodating the soccer team. I paid my bill and left no tip & I always tip them. did you know they stopped me at the door and ask why didn’t I tip them lol? They stopped me like I didn’t pay the bill. I told them my reason and they were upset. I really don’t care listen i work hard for my money and I’d be dam if I give those people any tip when they literally ignored us...

I ordered food for pick up and my California roll was in the same bag as my hot food which you can get sick if sushi gets hot. My noodles came plain with no sauce or anything on it when I asked for Lo Mein. I also ordered hibachi chicken with brown rice and they gave me red rice and the chicken only had pepper on it. I called the store. The lady kept saying she didn’t understand me. She got someone else on the phone And that person said “ Oh, the sushi should be fine to eat There’s nothing wrong with it I put it at the bottom of the bag” which I tried to explain that was the problem she put the hot food on top of my California roll.
