La Bella — Restaurant in City of Yonkers

When you spend $12+ dollars on lunch you expect to have a portion that would satisfy a child's appetite. La Bella has been through many owners, it was originally housed in the hair/barber shop next door to it 14 years ago. It started as a small pizza shop and was ran by the "pizza nazi" who hated the students and was openly racist to the few he got along with but the food was great and was a value. As the restaurant aged the food portions slowly got smaller, I guess Roosevelt H.S. students have extremely low expectations, or perhaps the convenience of the location for the students create enough volume of business to keep the doors open. In summary, the food flavor is decent and their slices are okay. However, if you expect to order a pasta dish with chick or shrimp or another meat, expect to get a pitiful portion of any ingredient that costs money because they only put enough of any ingredient for it to be present in the dish and this is no exaggeration, expect to use a microscope to find any chicken shrimp or beef. Every few months I convince myself to give them another try and every time I am disappointed. If you want a $12 snack, this place is great, if you want a meal...

Food isn't bad. Normally I wouldn't waste my time writing a review about a restaurant especially when on the road but the absolute disrespect of the manager working tonight was amazing. First off, the restaurant is 2.2 miles from the hotel. It took aver 90 minutes for a order for my wife and I to get here. I could have over looked that since it was a Saturday night and I am sure they were very busy. But when they forgot one of the meals, that was enough for me. The delivery driver did the right thing and called the manager (Dave) and told him what was missing. This "manager" then argues with the driver that it was there and then demanded to speak to me. When I explained (verified by the driver) that my one meal was missing, he acted as if I was lying to him. Seriously, I'm staying at the Hampton Inn and you think I am going to try and steal a $7 meal from you. Great customer service. That's the way to build a reputation for yourself.

Update I did receive a call back from the Manager and they have fixed the error very quickly so I will definitely change...

La Bella has been around forever or what feels like forever. I've been eating their food for a number of years now. While I have complained about some minor things in the past (mostly simple human error stuff that La Bella is ALWAYS glad to rectify) the service is friendly and the food is on point. While not the higher end like their neighbor Carlo's, the food is always delicious from the pizza to the heroes to the salads and desserts. Their Nutella zeppole is to die for. The La Bella Signature Salad is a great healthy alternative. My personal "customized" favourite is a chicken cutlet hero with vodka sauce and fresh mozzarella. Basically the point here is that La Bella delivers a great meal no matter what you pick off their menu. They even have great lunch specials. Another favourite is their chicken philly cheese hero.
