Overall, the taste was good, but there were some minor quirks not related to the food. It doesn’t open until 12PM, it’s closed on Sundays & Mondays, and the number of parking spaces and room to maneuver cars in the parking lot are inadequate. Due to COVID, the server (owner?) takes your order outside and then goes back in, locks the door, and prepares the food. It looked like a one-person operation. So, if she’s in the middle of preparing an order or doesn’t see you at the door, you might have to wait a few minutes before she pops back out again. The seating is limited and it’s all outside for now. There is a retractable awning that provides shade for sunny days. I ordered the chicken shawarma sandwich ($8.99). It was a satisfying one-footer (size matters!) pita rolled with hot steamy roasted chicken drizzled with some delicious spiced creamy sauce. I liked how she crisped the pita in a panini press! It would have been better if the filling had more lettuce, tomato, and other things that they usually put in a shawarma (turnip pickles, onion slices, tahini, banana pepper, +/- harissa paste, etc.), but perhaps this was the Eritrean version? Anyways, I enjoyed it for what it was. Looking a couple tables over, however, I noticed that each lady ordered the shawarma salad ($8.99), not the shawarma plate ($10.99), which looked like a better deal than my sandwich, except that they did not have pita. Their salads had more lettuce and looked more filling yet had the same amount of meat! Maybe I’ll increase my fiber intake next time by ordering the salad for what would be the same price...
Read moreLooking to try something new since I work right up the street and there's limited lunch options nearby. For starters, the food that I did receive was subpar at best. The gyro wrap was hard at the bottom and soggy all over (how does that happen?), and the meat was cold as if it had been sitting out for a while. I actually ordered a beef and chicken wrap, but sent a coworker to grab it for me. My coworker stated that she told the worker the order exactly as I wrote it down, but there was apparently a mix up. I would have gladly eaten the gyro as it came to me if it was actually good, but for $10 I decided that I wanted what I ordered. So I called back to tell her that I had received the wrong order, which I was willing to come and swap it out even if that meant paying more. Before I could even finish my sentence, the woman cut me off and said, "That's what she ordered!", and persisted to argue with me. She never once offered me a solution, just argued. For your food to be this poor of quality, you would think the least you could do was have someone to answer the phone with some class, basic manners, and simple telephone skills. But no, instead that's $10 wasted on this trashy establishment. Never...
Read moreI don't dislike the place.. The food is decent. And the young lady working there is nice. The low star rating is because.. It's just 1 person working there. Like I said a lady!
She's being protective. Covid wise. Not letting anyone inside to order. It's mainly takeout.. You can sit out on the patio.. But it's still take out.. NahImean. But, the problem is.. It's just her!!! She'll come to the door, take an order go back make the order.. Which is detailed.. (Not your fast food everything sitting under a heat lamp type of food.) Then come back get the payment, go back, bring food and hand give back payment. Then the next person.. So at peak or semi-peak times..... Be ready to wait a hour if you're not 1st in line.
Why won't they hire someone to just take order and ring out??!! If it's her business.. She should do it. I feel like she's losing more than she's making... Or not making as much as she could. Then at night She says she scared. So she only takes oder by phone.... And then you wait. Like I said food is decent.. And when you're in the mood for something you want you grin and bear...
