Dutch Bros Coffee — Restaurant in Clarksville

I arrived at this location around 8 PM, drawn by the enjoyable drinks and excellent customer service I typically experience here and at its sister locations. However, this visit was not up to par. I entered the drive-thru and waited in line with two cars ahead of me, which I found acceptable. After about 10 minutes, the young employee taking orders engaged in an extended conversation with the car in front of me. While I understand that Dutch Bros staff often engage in friendly banter with customers, this felt excessive.

As the car in front finally moved forward, the conversation continued, delaying my order further. After approximately 15 minutes of chatting, the employee approached me and asked for my order. He informed me that my drink and total would be provided at the window. Typically, I receive my total and the option to tip before reaching the window, regardless of whether I pay by card. The car ahead of me, still engaged in conversation with the worker at the window, handed over an empty cup and drove off. Meanwhile, the employee resumed chatting with the car behind me, while another vehicle pulled up beside mine to wave at the window before speeding off.

When I finally received my drink, I noticed that my total was higher than usual, and I had not been asked if I wanted to leave a tip. Although the drink itself was satisfactory, my experience at a different location around the same time was markedly better; there, I was treated with respect and asked if I wanted to tip. It became clear that the staff at that location had added their own tip to my order. Normally, i tip a minimum of 20%, if tipping was given as an option I would have still tipped and this review wouldn't exist. Overall, this visit was uncomfortable and felt insincere, leading me to decide against returning to this location...

I’ve debated writing this for a few days, but after thinking it over, I feel like it needs to be said. I’m a regular at this location. I’ve come nearly every day for years — and the difference in service since Destiny left has been hard to ignore. The energy that used to make this place so special just isn’t there anymore. Some of the newer baristas seem completely disengaged, like they’re just trying to push customers through as fast as possible with no real care or connection.

What finally pushed me to write this review was an experience I had last week, around 2 p.m. on the 15th. I pulled up for my usual order and waited all the way to the window before anyone even acknowledged me. Not the end of the world, but disappointing for a place that used to feel so warm and friendly. When I did get to the window, though, I could clearly hear one of the baristas inside talking about another employee in the most unprofessional way imaginable. She was loudly discussing a “disgusting wound” someone had, bragging about how close she is with the manager, and even saying there were “several people we want fired.”

That’s not casual conversation… that’s gossip, cruelty, and power-tripping in the middle of a customer-facing environment. It was incredibly uncomfortable to overhear and completely shattered the positive vibe Dutch Bros usually stands for. I don’t know her name, but she’s newish, short, white, maybe around 30. And if I see her working again, I’ll be turning right around and taking my business elsewhere.

I’ve been to a few different Dutch bros throughout TN and none of them compare to this store. Every time I hit the drive thru and go to order they always have the friendliest people I’ve ever met. They are always so sweet and talk to my family and I about our days, plans for the day and just anything in general. You can definitely feel the connections from these people who genuinely care and love their jobs. If I had to compare talking to the staff at this dutch bros it would be compared to a warm hug, I could come in having the worst day ever and will leave feeling so much better than I did before!!! They also make the best coffees in town and always tell us about new flavors and drinks. They always make my coffees taste amazing and even if the unfortunate happens and any of our drinks come out wrong they always fix them no problem! I’ve gone to different places before and they never cared about these things like this store does! Keep doing what y’all are doing, it really does make a difference...
