We visited Shelby's Trio tonight for the first time in several months, this time choosing to eat in Joe's Garage on the first floor. We never had a poor experience, but they have changed management and the menu. The menu has been condensed from several pages of choices, including about ten burger options to a single front and back page. They have obviously decided to do a few things we'll instead of doing many just acceptably. I chose the Buffalo Chicken Sandwich and my batter half picked the Phily Sandwich. We had the loaded tots to start, and even opted for the pan cookie to finish. (We almost never have desert.) Let me back up... We were greeted by an engaging young man within moments of sitting down. He was friendly and took the time to carry on conversations while actually making eye contact. He had us both smiling right away. He had our drinks to us very quickly and took our orders without notes. (He didn't miss a thing.) The food came quickly and exactly as ordered. The tots were crispy and flavorful with the layers of toppings. The sandwiches were perfectly cooked and very generously proportioned. My wife tends to be dainty when she eats and used a fork and knife on her Phily. She said she loved it, but wouldn't share a bite for me to judge it on my own. My Buffalo Chicken was great. The sauce was tangy and flavorful but not so hot that you missed anything. If there were a not to pick, it would be that the sandwich was designed to ensure you got some on your hands, chin, elbows, knees, and your neighbor's dog. This is not a complaint, as that is how a proper pub Sandwich should be. The cookie was hot and gooey with a high-quality ice cream to balance it out. The best part of the night was Lorezo, our server. He was refreshingly professional in his role while displaying friendly, engaging, and intelligent conversation. Next, the food was improved from the previous management and menu, and very good. Third, the manager checked on us, spent time to actually talk to us for a few minutes, and not just do a drive by glad-hand. I suppose I was one of the fee that didn't have a complaint with the previous management, but what I saw tonight was a significant step up. The service, the food, and the management was outstanding. As before, the atmosphere is fun and comfortable. If you had an issue in the past, go back. Ask for Lorenzo, he was a great server. If you haven't been, get in there quickly before everyone catches on yo how good they have gotten.

Incredibly disappointed in the food. The service was on point, besides the constant barrage of servers and bar servers moving through the tables constantly. This was an anniversary dinner night out and we were excited to try this “Upscale Restaurant”. Had I read the reviews we may not have come and spent the $150 someplace else, like Edwards or Yolan in Nashville. Here’s the critique. The Atmosphere is great but as an upscale restaurant for someone who spent two hours getting ready and my boyfriend dressed up and wore a sports jacket, again completely dressed up to sit next to somebody wearing flip-flops and a fishing shirt, doesn’t seem like an upscale restaurant environment. You have two other “bar environments”, why is the “upscale” restaurant not require some type of dress code, as there is no place in Clarksville that offers this. My boyfriend ordered the Walker Mule and I must say the first one was perfection, however there is no consistency, the second one tasted like a margarita, no orange, and missing something else, but definitely not the same drink. The bruschetta bread was limp and tasteless. The Chicken Parm was burnt around the edges and breading was soggy. The noodles were cold and the food barely fit on the long skinny plate so when he tried to cut with the butter knife with no sharp edge he was given, it kept sliding off the plate. The noodles had carrots and onions, not sure about this combo with breaded chicken and red sauce. I had the spaghetti and meatballs, not sure why my meatballs were so dense they were hard to cut with my butter knife. I only ate three bites of my food, as it was tasteless. I couldn’t tell if the noodles were fresh or not, and that should be an easy distinction. Additionally. we didn’t take any food home. We decided to go to the roof top bar and what a beautiful view, too bad your bartenders are not customer centric as we sat at the bar for about 15 minutes while we were looked at and looked over because the two girls were engrossed in their conversation. And when finally asked what we needed, I felt like I was bothering them to be there. Also, if you see a drink you like at one of the other restaurants, it’s not available at all of them, as we were rudely informed by the blonde bar tender. I do understand this industry and food as I owned a restaurant for over 12 years until we sold it to move on to other ventures. I am also Italian/Irish and grew up with an Italian father making fresh Italian food weekly. We will not be back any time soon, you have a lot to work out, the first being...

IF YOU ARE A PERSON OF COLOR DO NOT GIVE THIS RESTAURANT YOUR BUSINESS: My wife and decided to try something different for dinner tonight and chose Shelby’s Trio (Trattoria-Di-Cat.). We were greeted and seated immediately upon arriving which was great. Our waiter (Kylie) was very nice which was also great. We ordered our appetizers and entrees shortly thereafter. While enjoying our appetizers another couple arrived and sat behind us with one booth separating us. There was also a couple in front of us who were there when we arrived and were already eating. Maybe twenty minutes into our visit, the manager (Jared) came out and greated the couple in front of us with pleasantries and and introduced himself and let them know that they could ask for him if they had any problems. He left their table and literally walked right past our table and went to the table behind ours and proceeded to do the same thing with those guests. We literally watched him engage with every other table (no exaggeration) during our visit while totally ignoring us. My wife and I were in shock as he didn’t even acknowledge that we were there. We tried to rationalize his seemingly unprofessional behavior but could come to only one conclusion. We were the only non Caucasians in the restaurant. As much as we wanted it to be something else this is the only thing that makes any sense. All of the white patrons were greeted by the manager while the only black patrons WERE NOT. There was literally no other difference between us. This really upset my wife and I and was totally unnecessary. When we got our check we told Kylie about our observations and she was seemingly very apologetic. We waited for a few minutes as I’m sure she relayed our concerns to Jared but he never came back out. We were clearly treated as less than second class patrons and it didn’t feel good at all. He had the opportunity to clear up any misunderstanding but he made a conscious decision not to. This totally validated our thoughts about this restaurant and it’s management. We will never eat here again and IF YOU ARE A PERSON OF COLOR WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND THAT YOU DO NOT GIVE THIS RESTAURANT YOUR BUSINESS. JARED MADE IT CLEAR WE WERE NOT WORTH HIS TIME OR ATTENTION AND PREFERRED TO ONLY SPEAK WITH THE...
