Being from upstate NY and having frequented the original Anchor Bar in Buffalo, I'm a stickler about wings. The definition of good wings in the south differs greatly from their place of origin- especially with sauces and methods of cooking - also the interpretation of "crispy". On the same premise, I am not able to write a valid review of biscuits and gravy or the best grits in the area. With that said I must say these guys NAILED IT and definitely have the edge on the Clayton wing market! Rule #1 they did not break- do not pre or partially cook your wings for faster serving. ALWAYS cook your wings from fresh. It's worth the 18 minute wait! However, rule #2 they did break. Do not serve the best wings in the area with the absolute cheapest pre-packaged ranch or blue cheese available. Huge turn off, especially with the price of wings today.
As you can surmise, the wings were incredible and reasonably priced. 38 available sauces and rubs can become confusing but at least there are choices. Very good fries, cheese sauce was great, Buffalo chicken wrap was terrific and portions were outstanding. Very good quality and prepared food. Preparation was top notch. Very clean dining area. Much better than eating at two picnic tables. They seem to pay very close attention to their food preparation and this can easily be destroyed with a little over confidence or distraction. For a place that just recently opened they seem to have everything well under control and I sure hope it stays that way....
Read moreI don't even know if I'll give this place another try based on customer service and an inability to effectively LISTEN to understand instead of listening to respond/argue. Online the fish filets look large/long but don't be fooled because they are baby fish filets. We asked if a salad comes with the meal and were informed it would be an upcharge so we said never mind we would take the fries and I asked for a menu that details the salads. I was rudley pointed to a menu that didn't have any more information than the menu on the wall. I wanted to know if what kind of lettuce and if it had tomatoes, cucumbers, cheese, onions, etc. and that info isn't listed anywhere.
Barely any drinks at the drink machine work.
When our food was ready they had us a salad...that we were upcharged for and we didn't even ask for it. I had to ask and explain why I wanted a refund for the upcharge for something we didn't order. Then they said it would be 15 mins for fries. Since when does it take 15 mins to make fries? 🤔 being difficult because they messed the order up is uncalled for and continuously tried to blame us saying we said yes when he asked if we wanted a salad (which isn't true).
They said it comes with 2 slices of white bread and it looks like wheat bread.
Atmosphere is very basic and not welcoming, lots of open space with nothing going on.
Very bad first impression. Doubt...
Read more2nd visit at this location. My family and I went after 8:30 pm, each time. The portion size is great. We got fried WHOLE wings...wow! Cooked fresh but missing deep flavor. They need a little salt or brine it and then batter it. Great crispy texture. Hot! We also had teriyaki wings, fantastic. You can pick your own flavors for those. Fries were hot, but over cooked on the second visit. We added season salt, with the option to add Old Bay and whatever available seasonings. The rice was great. The Lemonade was good. A great number of customers all rejoicing in their presence.
The workers were not as friendly until I opened up to them. I think it's their culture, so not offended for their lack of smiles or countenance. They were cleaning the tavles and floors each tume. Always appears to be clean.
We are going again, because I want to try the seafood and salad. Many options like grilled. I love that. There is also a crab place, next door, too but Im not sure about that. Havent seen many...
