We finally had our chance to dine at Hokkie, the new Asian restaurant on US 441 in Clayton. It was 3 pm this past Sunday, and the restaurant is still in "soft opening" status. Timing is everything: On our first try (6 pm on a weekday) the line was out the door. This time, we waited just about 5 minutes to be seated! Service kinks are still being worked out, but that's nothing unexpected in a new restaurant. I do hope the plan isn't to stick with plastic utensils. Our server was Edam, a cheerful young man originally from Indonesia who is well traveled across the USA. We ordered edamame and crab rangoon as appetizers. The edamame was slow in arriving, but hot and a good sized serving. The crab rangoon (6 pieces) was tasty and could've been served hotter. We didn't ask for side plates, out of respect for their staffing challenges (note on the front door). I hope that improves. They have no liquor license yet. The mango juice on the menu was not in stock so we had iced tea. As entrees, hubby ordered a sushi sashimi combo (regular); I ordered the pineapple fried rice rice with chicken and a Nikko roll. (We had a good laugh at my expense because I was confirming my choice by reading hubby's menu upside down, and asked for a Nokki roll. The server returned, very confused!) The entrees were outstanding! The seafood in the sushi/sashimi was fresh and the presentation was thoughtful. The pineapple fried rice was steaming hot and tasty; I took home half of the hefty serving. I hope the restaurant succeeds ... and keeps its sushi chef! As the soft opening crowds show, it's sorely needed in Rabun! We'll be back to confirm Hokkie's excellent quality and (perhaps) an upgrade to silverware!

It was amazing food and service!! food was out extremely quick and was wonderful. The lemonade was wonderful too with multiple different syrups to add to it! It was only about a 15 min wait to sit down also! The only reason it’s not 5/5 i would say is the price. For two people we were expecting maybe $60 but it totaled out to $90 with 18% tip. So we were a little shocked. but we did get apps entrees and a dessert Which was all excellent! I will be going again!

Nice people. Service can be slow but they are nice. Sushi is good. Meals are good. Hibachi is good. The price is high for soup and salad but they taste really good. (I would honestly come for just their ginger salad if the portions were larger or the price lower) Rangoons taste frozen and reheated. Roti is certainly not what you would get at a quality indian restaurant. No other Asian food in town (ingles doesn't even count), so we will be back im sure.

Went in for lunch today and unfortunately left disappointed. I originally wanted to sit at the bar which was closed for some reason and was seated at a booth. The server was confused and did not understand my drink order of Diet Pepsi. When he finally came back I placed an order of the Gyoza. After the finally came out they were overcooked and small for the price. After a few more minutes the server returned I placed an order for sushi and sashimi. While waiting one of the employees was sweeping and banging everything he could with the broom for about 15 to 20 minutes. After he was done banging the broom around he moved to the dishes and started making a racket with that. He left the broom leaning against one of the booths. I decided I had enough and paid for the appetizer and left. Most of the reviews here are obviously fake. Don't waste your time or money here there are plenty of other options in the area. Oh and please don't use the "soft opening" excuse. You have been open too long for that and these are...

Had Shrimp and veggies, Broccoli tough, not cooked enough, used credit card, charged 3% did not know until I got receipt will deduct from tip if I go back, slow to seat, will avoid future visits. I went back today, had shrimp & salmon, both were good, was seated immediately, Kiki was my server and did a great job, everything was good. Went back yesterday, had same dish I complained about on first trip, Shrimp and vegetables, all vegetables were tough and not cooked enough again, I ordered 2 chicken egg rolls, they and sauce were ok,I was not given utensils and napkin so I ate without and waiter finally came around and got a fork and some napkins, you only get a fork, no knife! Meal came vegetables again not cooked enough and no knife, waited 5 minutes to get a bill, all 3 visits $30.00 plus with tip— I will continue going to Cornelia, Toccoa, Franklin, Seneca and Clemson for Asian Dishes, better dishes and prices at...
