At first, we weren't even sure that they served food. Oh, but they do, and it has a german flair. Beer brats in a blanket as an appetizer is the best appetizer I've had in a very long time. The hot mustard, served on the side, has a buttery flavor that mellows the taste of the mustard. The sauerkraut is house made but doesn't have the usual sauerkraut tartness. It's very smooth. The brats are beer battered, lightly breaded, and baked. It's served sliced into bite-sized pieces. The rack of ribs was, essentially, a half rack. When you pick it up, you either get bone or meat. Ya can't pick em both up at the same time. The meat, quite literally, falls off the bone. The only downside was the Sriracha flavored cole slaw. Dessert was fried chocolate chip cookie dough, fried into balls a little bigger than a golf ball and drizzled with chocolate and powdered sugar. I got it with a side of ice cream. It was good, I'd have it again. It wasn't creme brulee good, but good none the less. The banana pudding was.....different. it's made with blueberries and some of their blueberry blonde ale. It didn't have your regular banana pudding taste, which was probably the point. The wife didn't like it, but she's not a blueberry fan anyway. Drinks: it's a craft beer place, so... ABVs range from 4.2 - 10. They have ciders, beer, liquor, mead, and wine. It's a full bar. I had the Bolivar Bock, which came in at 6%. It was a dark amber color with good flavor. A nice, heavy, but not hoppy beer. I followed that up with an oktoberfest, which comes in at 6.5%. It was a lighter amber color and lighter in flavor. Both of them were very good and certainly deserving of drinking 1 or 6. Overall, we had an expectation commensurate with a brewery, food wise, and we're pleasantly shocked at how good the food was. We will definitely come back here again. If you have been to jackies in kemah, this place is right across the street. Not taking anything away from jackies, but this place is fantastic. I had to get a beer brat to go.

Very pleased with the first experience at Galveston Bay Brewing. Not pictured, the fresh pretzel rivaled what I have had in Germany. The beer cheese dip was on point. The fresh ground mustard dip was excellent (a personal critique point of mine). The Swiss Mushroom Burger the wife had was ample. I took a taste of the meat, clean and robust, and the mushrooms, buttery and tasty. My blackened shrimp tacos were very good. I found the topping a bit too mayonnaisey and the blackening flavor needed a bit more volume but, mixing with a fork dampened the overpowering mayonnaise flavor profile. Still very good. Being a bit more of a beer lover than the wife, I found the Blueberry Blonde (if named correctly) tasty and the Red Snapper to be exceptional complements to the experience. The Red Snapper was a great take on an Irish Red. A bit more on the toasted malts than the standard for that style and truly a great adder to the profile. Perfect service, great atmosphere. Winner. 👍🏻 Updated Aug 26 Second visit, consistent food quality. The bacon pimento burger was really good. Didn’t taste like a sourdough bun as advertised though.

We visited on a Tuesday evening - early. (9/2). The building temperature was cool - that's important in Kemah in early September. The hostesses did not know if they had wine on the menu when asked - but the menu answered that question quickly - they do - among many other cocktails besides beer. There was a Singo game going on - so much fun!! We ordered the Salmon Burger (which is ground salmon) & the Pig Rib Sandwich. Both with fries. Both our sandwiches were so loaded with salt we couldn't finish them. The fries were also extraordinarily salty. It's important to note that I have rarely ever complained about the amount of salt in my meal - ever. I was able to eat only half of my salmon burger, but left it instead of boxing it up. We told the waiter about the salty food - and were offered the comp of our meal. We declined because we weren't looking for a free meal. Know that the atmosphere was fun. The drinks were good. I hope that this review reaches the people in charge of the kitchen!!

I like the idea of this place and the location as a nearby and low key fun atmosphere, but hopefully the managers and owners listen up. You're food is just OK not great just OK, but what is worse and where you can make the experience MUCH better is your SERVICE. The last 3x I've been here with my family we try and enjoy our time, but you get seated and then wonder if they forgot about you. My wife literally had to go ask for silverware which is just sad. The waitresses mean good and polite but need much more training or help as they are often not cued in to being prompt and constantly checking in to the customer. We had to strategically order all our food at once just in case they forgot about us which is sad and then our appetizer along with our main entree piled up on our table which made eating impossible. Then comes the tip and they provide you the digital card machine and literally stand there waiting for you to enter your tip which is also not ideal. Each time I've left decent tips considering the food and mostly the service is atrocious. Liked this place in the beginning but each experience gets worse and it's usually a result of who's running the place such as the owners and the managers. IF they can get it together, this could be a great place to experience, but the lack of appealing food and worse the non-existent service has finally reminded me to not come back. If you cannot run a business like this right, then don't be in the restaurant industry or get into another that hopefully you finally get right. Also, I read all the poor reviews and they are spot on...poorly run and subpar food...shame on me for giving this place a 3rd try. Will not be back for a 4th. This business should be embarrassed to deliver this...

Bartender Bethany (if that’s her name) not the best. I hate to single anyone out when a restaurant runs best when everyone is doing what they need to do. However, it seems that Bethany kind of contributes to the reason why have a subpar experience. And to say subpar is a compliment. We are a 3 strikes you’re out kind of group of people.

The first two times we had an experience that wasn’t the best, we waited on drinks for a while. We’ve noticed that Bethany likes to chat a lot with her friend. I used to be in the service industry. I get it. Sometimes talking with your coworkers helps you get through your shift. But come on. Take care of your customers. If you’re not able to talk and do what you need to do, you don’t need to be behind a bar. With that being an issue more than once, we decided to sit at a table. Which in the past has never really failed us. All the servers are great there. This last time we went. We noticed that our server was busy with many tables. The server was on top of what she could control but our drinks were slow. And not so surprisingly, the person behind the bar was Bethany.

I’ve noticed that this place has more than my review that says that the service is not so good and people hope this place gets better. The location is great. The food is great. The servers are pretty okay but please get you some better bartenders. Like the one that used to be a bartender that is now on the floor more often. We will probably be back for food and drinks if Bethany isn’t the...
