This is one of the best sushi restaurants in ALL of Central Florida. I live in Orlando and there are some awesome places on that side of town…Akina equals, if not surpasses, all of them. I would happily drive the near-hour long drive regularly to Akina because this place has such good food!! I’ve been here a billion times at this point and have a few favorites: roti prata is an absolute must - a unique flaky flatbread from Malaysia that you can dip in a wonderful curry sauce. Definitely get this!! The spicy edamame is also a great option, gyoza is always solid, summer rolls are some of the best I’ve ever had, tuna and salmon tataki are also both some of the best I’ve had, and fried appetizers like the calamari and panko crusted shrimp are really good too. If I were to choose three right now, I’d get the roti prata, either tuna or salmon tataki, and summer rolls! Regarding sushi, here are my favorite rolls: godzilla, hanabi special, heaven, kamikaze, king dragon, Louisiana, Seattle, and temptation! Special nod to the hanabi special, heaven, and temptation - these are the rolls that keep bringing me back!! They are absolutely incredible and on par with the best sushi I’ve had anywhere around the world…and I’ve been to Japan, London, Dubai, and other places that have exceptional sushi as well!! If you want a massive roll that’s essentially the size of two, get the king dragon - don’t be frightened with its price. Lobster is expensive and it’s a MASSIVE roll - you only need that and an appetizer and you’d have a great meal. However, please do yourself a favor and try the three I mentioned earlier IF you like unique and different sushi rolls. If you’re a fan of the simple stuff like California, Philadelphia and volcano rolls, sure, get those instead. But, if you’re wanting something different, you’ll love the hanabi special, heaven, and temptation rolls. The only things I haven’t tried from Akina yet are the regular dinner entrees (steak, chicken, and Japanese/Chinese/Thai dishes), but based off other reviews, they seem great as well. This is just an awesome restaurant and you need to try it ASAP if you’re on the fence. You won’t be disappointed!

I came at an off hour 3:00pm so I don't have high expectations for the atmosphere or service. That said it was just mediocre. The food was definitely not anything to write home about I ordered calamari, Mongolian beef xx spicy with veggies rather than rice a $2.50 upcharge, with hot and sour soup. $38 The soup was disappointing not very hot nor spicy. Definitely needs more flavor and the mushrooms didn't seem freshly prepared for the soup that always disappoints me as I am a big fan of mushrooms. The calamari was actually okay. It was crispy and salty, the chilies a nice touch since there wasn't much flavor in the breading. I enjoyed the simplicity. The fried potato chips are a nice touch adding color and a little something extra to the plate. The Mongolian beef came out. The veggies lacked any love from the chef being simply steamed and unseasoned. I'd suggest grilling or a nice pan sear to liven them up. It came with more fried potato chips it was nice with the calamari but now it is being over used and acting as too much of a filler they also just get soggy on a plate with sauces from the beef. The beef was nice it was cooked well and I was pleased it wasn't too sweet like I often find places. It wasn't however spicy even though I had asked for xx spicy. They rectified this by bringing me out more sauce that was made "spicy" it also wasn't but the bowl of fresh chilies that accompanied it was the perfect flx. It should have had some nice chilis to begin with. Overall my verdict is.. lack of flavor. Probably won't come back, however, it is edible and the fact nothing was too sweet is a major win.

6/11/2024 Our evening dinner started off with superb authentic green tea in a cast iron tea pot, next was appetizer; the Crispy Calamari which does have a heat factor in the fried sweet potato bedding consisting of fried Thai chili slices and scallion slices. The sweet and spicy dipping sauce was the wow factor. It tasted like a sweet cocktail sauce with heat yet wasn’t a cocktail sauce. Our menu continues into General Tso chicken, it does have a heat factor but not overly powerful if you’re mindful of not eating the cooked chilis in the dish. The General Tso’s chicken was tender, juicy and plentiful on the plate with a cup of white rice and small ‘salad’ for palate cleansing. We added the large chicken fried rice and it was amazing. Flavorful with diced onion, red bell pepper, green onion plus the egg. The chicken fried rice needed no sauce of any kind. Lastly we had the Yaka Soba noodles with chicken. Yaka Soba is one of my favourite noodles next to Udon and I have to say out of all the places I’ve eaten away from Okinawa or Japan. Akina has got the noodles down like they’re from Japan. I was full after a few bites and leftovers never looked so good. The staff, was personable and Skylar was spot on, friendly in every way. You could tell she enjoys her job. We didn’t lack for anything. I would give more stars if I could but definitely 5/5

My partner has eaten here previously and invited a group of 14 for New Year’s Eve dinner. The last time she was there, there was apparently a flooded restroom, but that doesn’t play into my review. The other persons had mixed opinions about the quality of the food so I can’t offer a qualified opinion on that, however the customer service I received was deplorable. I ordered tempura eggplant ( the same as the person sitting next to me. What was brought out was a tempura mixed appetizer which I hadn’t ordered. The waiter left the appetizer on the table and indicated he would bring out the main course eggplant dinner which I repeated. Some 20 minutes later, after everyone else in the party had already been served, the waiter brought out a shrimp and eggplant dinner (not what I ordered). I advised the waiter again that it was not what I had ordered but would accept that as opposed to waiting an additional 10-15 minutes to remake the order hopefully correctly. After the meal I received the check and was charged for both the appetizer not ordered and the shrimp/eggplant fish at some $9.00 more than what I had ordered. The waiter indicated that Since I had wrapped u[ the appetizer to go since it had been left on the table, I was being charged for same. I unboxed the appetizer so it could be returned to the kitchen for disposal, and the waiter reluctantly then removed same from my bill. I indicated I also shouldn’t have been charged the additional $9.00 for his mistake in giving me the incorrect main course, and he just shrugged off the complaint with no further adjustment to the bill. Fortunately for the restaurant they also tacked a gratuity onto the check so there was no other remedy available to me and I didn’t want to make a scene at the restaurant. Really poor way for management to treat customers - especially given that we had brought in a group of 14 patrons. Needless to say if this establishment rips off customers like~ this, I could never recommend the...

My wife and I have been coming here on occasion for years. At times service was great other times not so much but the quality of the sushi for us remained consistent. We went for dinner on Valentine's day 2/14/18 and ordered 4 specialty rolls. In the past we've ordered no more than 3 and always had plenty of food but we splurged because I wanted to try a couple I've never had before. While waiting for our food I ordered 1 large sake to share with my wife. After quite a long wait the waitress arrived and put two large sake down and walked off. Besides giving me an extra one I didn't want it was tepid at best and I didn't see my server again for some time. It took us nearly 45 minutes to receive our food. When it finally came out I thought it looked like a rather small portion however we'd been waiting so long we dug right in. The sushi was good, not great and when we had finished eating we couldn't believe we had been able to eat all 4 rolls. It was enough food that we were satisfied however as I said before in the past 3 nearly put us over the top. At one point we asked for more wasabi and the waitress made a point of sneaking it over when the owner wasn't looking commenting that if she saw she may make her charge us for the additional amount. Whether that's true or not I don't know but there have been similar comments made by other servers in the past and several other reviews that put the owner in a negative light. I would say that the value for the overall quality of the experience is lacking and I can make $100 go a lot further at many other local restaurants and leave feeling more satisfied than I did here. We won't likely be back...
