Dry January: Must-Try Non-Alcoholic Drinks in Cleveland

I came here for my birthday dinner and I really enjoyed myself!! I loved the warm atmosphere and how spaced out everything was. there's a yoga studio on the second floor I think? it was a busy Friday night but I still think we received Excellent service! Lincoln was our waiter and he was really great, a group of 7 of us and no problems with our order at all!! The food was tasty and the drinks were good, not over priced thankfully 😁 I ordered the lobster Mac with bacon pieces and the vegan apple tart 😋. I was disappointed with the amount of lobster in my dish. For a $20 dish, I was expecting more than six small pieces (yes I counted) on my plate. It tasted great tho and my apple tart made everything all better lol. For a busy restaurant I was confused about the bathroom situation...i don't know if it's just where we were sitting but there was only one women's restroom and we had to go upstairs to find more bathrooms. I'd had a couple drinks and walking up stairs was definitely not something I enjoyed doing when the one bathroom was occupied. Still, I would definitely go here again!!

My partner and I stopped in after attending MIX at CMA and had the most incredible experience. I have visited The Fairmount before when I use to live in the area and again with friends where we had a chance to meet the owner Jake and he was an absolute delight! This visit however was my fiancés first and he was shocked that he never new this place existed. Our server Lawrence deserves all the kudos in the world. He was amazing at his job, helped us narrow down selections for our meal and honestly the restaurant industry needs more people like him. If your ever in the area 30/10 recommend dining here. The food was great—at first glance you’d think it’s “typical” bar food but what the chefs are serving you is anything but basic. I had the Gouda Mac and cheese with grilled chicken added and it was hands down some of the best Mac I’ve ever had! The only reason I didn’t finish is so that I could make sure I saved room to have their double chocolate brownie for dessert! If you’re reading this review and are debating whether or not to stop in…this place is a MUST GO in Cleveland!

This was my first time at the restaurant. I had looked at the menu ahead of time and was excited to try it out.

They brought waters out to the table with straws in it. I was glad to see that the straws were paper, but I didn't ask for a straw, and therefore it was wasted. It was thoughtful but unnecessary.

We were told the server would be there shortly, but that wasn't the case. The service was poor. We asked the server for lemons we had to ask two other people before the lemons are brought out to the table. We gave an appetizer order when she finally arrived.

After waiting awhile for the appetizers to come out, I had to ask somebody to check on them. I finally saw a server passing bias and I had to stop her to tell her. We have a play to be at and we need to Be at our musical at 7 PM so we need to place our dinner order.

I thought this would be helpful, but it turned out not to be as we waited for our food. Eventually appetizers came out and they were very good. We continued to wait and I had to ask two people why is it taking so long for our entrées. The server was behind the bar working and I believe with stretched thin and in the weeds.

She asked us if we would like her to bring the check out early so we could just leave and get to the play. To which we said, that would be great. She never brought the check out until we asked her to bring it again. She asked us if we would like "to-go" containers and then never brought them until we asked again.

The only negative thing about the food was at the French fries were not hot. I'm sure they had been sitting in a warming spot and lost their heat.

I do not normally go to restaurants in Cleveland Heights, as it is not near where I live. If I had another reason to be in Cleveland Heights, like a play, again, I would Give it another chance. Things happen, but I think a retraining of the server would benefit the restaurant. I would recommend anyone to...

This is a response to the owner's reply, original message below

Original Message: Brought me meat on my vegetarian entree twice! Definitely not vegetarian friendly. Left hungry. Two beers (that they made me pay for) on an empty stomach = no fun. Definitely avoid.

Response from the owner We definitely apologize about the confusion on your order. I can understand being frustrated with an incorrect order. We spoke to the kitchen staff so this will not happen again. We took care of both your dinners would be happy to send you a gift card so you can give us another try.

My first issue is the statement "We took care of both of your dinners." Really? I did not receive a dinner. I ordered food, you brought me something I didn't order, twice, I left hungry. How exactly did you take care of my dinner? What you are really saying is "we didn't make you pay for something you didn't order." How nice of you.

Secondly, "I can understand being frustrated with an incorrect order." Can you? I haven't eaten meat in 30 years, I came to your restaurant and got sausage in my mouth. Do you know what that's like? Do you?

The good news is you'll never see me again. Please do not reply to this message. You already ruined my night, now you are...

My wife and I went here on what appeared to be a busy Thursday night and took a seat at the bar.

We ordered a couple of cocktails and a chicken and shrimp taco. The cocktails were executed perfectly in a short amount of time and were excellent. The tacos took longer than our bartender preferred so he dropped off a complimentary Kung Pao appetizer to make our wait pleasant and they were delicious. Shortly after, the tacos came out and were wonderful, perfectly cooked with great flavors.

After the appetizers we ordered the teriyaki lamb and the chicken masala. While we were waiting for our entrees the wife grabbed a rare beer from their well curated list and I had the hot apple cider with bourbon. The beer was great as was the cider cocktail. The food came out quickly, was perfectly executed and delicious. Our bartender, he had a sprained wrist, even took time out to chat with us in spite of the steady business.

I don’t often go out and have a dining experience as great as this one was. Every detail was spot on from start to finish. The staff was upbeat, knowledgeable, and friendly.

Well done and keep up...
