I've been coming in for years since being introduced to the place by my ex-wife. (That speaks to how tasty these burritos can be, I kept coming after the woman who recommended it to me and I divorced!) But my most recent trip will be my last. I came in while the entire staff was in the back doing prep of some kind (everybody very busy) and the employee who came out to "help" me was gobsmackingly rude. She was short and terse at every stage of the burrito building process. By the end I was staring in absolute shock at how poorly she was behaving with a customer, but she didn't register my visible anger because she never bothered to look up at me. I'd planned to get a drink (though she didn't offer/suggest I get one) and sit down, but when she asked me "to-go" I jumped at the chance because I couldn't wait to leave. On my way out I apologized for interrupting, because this woman obviously had more important things to do than help customers at a fast-casual restaurant. The burritos are great here, but the burritos are also great at Qdoba, Chipotle, Ohio City Burrito, and a half-dozen other spots around town, and at any of those places I'll get eye contact, maybe a smile. If this is where the level of service as dropped to at Chili Pepper's, I'll go literally...
Read moreThese used to be my favorite burritos in Cleveland, I have patronized this business for over 10 years. I went in one day with a friend, she ordered 1 burrito and I ordered 1 for myself and one for my daughter. I like mine very spicy and I asked the burrito maker to mark mine, my daughter doesn't like spicy foods or onions or tomatoes. Somehow my friend received my burrito and my daughter's burrito was marked to be mine. When I started eating what I thought was my burrito I noticed no spice, no tomatoes and no onions. I checked the other burrito and it wasn't mine either. I called my friend and she ate my burrito that the cashier gave her. I called Chili Peppers and spoke to the owner. He told me to come pick up TWO HALF BURRITOS to replace the mess up. I thought I misheard him. When I arrived back at the restaurant the employee made me two whole burritos. I took them and the owner came out and started yelling because he only wanted to give me two half burritos. I told him that I have been coming there regularly for over ten years and this was the first time I have ever had a problem and it should be fully corrected. His response was that he never saw me before. Which was very much not true. I will not patronize this...
Read moreI've been going to Chili Pepper since 2010 and have loved the food and prices. Lately however, there are a few things that have made it challenging to enjoy my dining experience.
Portion Sizes and Service: I've eaten lunch at the Chili Pepper at least 3 or 4 times within the past week, and I noticed that it has become harder and harder to get a consistent amount of food. I get the bowl, which comes in a styrofoam container and is pretty deep for a good amount of rice. Every time this past week the chili pepper employee will barely put any rice in my container. When I ask for more rice, I'm told it will be extra, and even with paying more my bowl only gets a half spoon of rice before they are pushing me to the next ingredient. Today 3/11/21, my wife and I went today and were met with the same thing. This time however the young woman seemed to have an attitude that we wanted to have more rice and mumbled something under her breath.
Even though the food is delicious, we don't have to fight in order to eat at other restaurants. We'll take our business elsewhere until this...
