December 18, 2017 My family and I have went to Gondelier here in Cleveland for over 20 years. I love Italian it's my favorite. Sometimes we would go there two or more times in a week. Their service is shotty at best. Some of the waitresses are very dishonest. I dealt with the above for years so I could have decent Italian. But, even that's beside what I am about to tell you.
The last visit that my husband or I will ever have here at the Cleveland Gondelier was around a month ago. My husband took his mother out to dinner. Later that day after my shift I decided I wanted the same for dinner. I called an order in to go. Upon arriving after paying for my food I decided to put Parmesan on while I was at the restaurant instead of getting those tiny packets. The jar I grabbed was not even filled up. It had about 1/4 of a jar. I took the lid off (as I always do, parmesan sticks together) to sprinkle onto my spaghetti (still leaving some in the jar). The guy behind the counter ( one of the family) said " don't take the lid off the Parmesan". I said " I always do that. Parmesan gets clumpy and I would rather sprinkle it on with the lid off. I then noticed I had two packs of crackers. I asked could I have two more? Would have paid for them if need be but usually can have extra. The guy behind the counter blurts out JESUS CHRIST very loud and in a disgusted way. Made me feel horrible and embarrassed. Well he may as well have cussed toward me. How disrespectful over Parmesan and crackers really. To use our father's son's name in such an ugly manner toward a customer. I have been giving you business for over 20 years. The way they treat and talk to people made me not ever want to go back. I had heard that you guys had been treating people in rude manners. I will spread the word. To be in this town for many years because of the support you get from our community and then treat people of the community which has given you the support you need to be successful, you should be ashamed. You can keep looking at Monterey's Mexican restaurant across the street ( I know you do that, I have saw you and heard your comments) filled with the customers you have lost. As far as Italian, Cafe Roma is really good. Great service and people don't mind you asking for extra crackers. Your forever lost customer, Along...
Read moreDon't really know how to start this review with how disappointed I am at my first time experience. Outside of the food, our waitress was sitting down with another family bad mouthing the owner and and trash talking the business in general as well as having to be told drinks and food was ready to be brought back to customers. She/he really acted like they couldn't be bothered by doing their job at all. Now, on the food side. I'm not from the area, and my mother suggested we try it as she was in the mood for Italian pasta. She ended up deciding on spaghetti and meatballs, and I decided on chicken fettuccine alfredo. Both come with salad and breadsticks. Which we thought would be awesome until the salad arrived, and it tasted like it was kept barely at refrigerated levels of temperatures and real watery and old. The breadsticks came out with the main course and were not hot nor fresh and flavorless, which seems to be a going practice so far this visit. My mom's spaghetti had a sour taste that she tried masking twice with salt, pepper, and parmesan cheese. She only managed to eat a meatball and a half before giving up. Onto my chicken fettuccine alfredo... it did not taste fresh (although hot on arrival). in fact, it had no flavor at all. Salt and pepper did not help. It was so thick that I almost choked on it to get the few bites I did try down. Needless to say, I asked for our check, and the waitress looked at us and asked if we wanted any to go plates, and we said no, and that was that. She/he didn't seem bothered that our plate was barely touched at all. Sorry no photos not that they would help...
Read moreThis was a horrible experience. The food was not good. My mom ordered a cheese pizza (how hard is that right) the crust was hard and burned, no sauce, very little cheese. I ordered a side of meatballs which were cold (like refrigerator cold) with a little sauce thrown on top that was barely warm. I sent mine back to be put in the MICROWAVE . Then a lady who must have been an assistant manager came to the table and asked what was wrong with the pizza...thats "how it comes" and if my mom had wanted more cheese than that she would have had to ask for it and that would have been extra and she should have told them not to cook it so long so the crust wouldn't have been tough. I mean really??? Then we went to check out and the man behind the counter proceeded to argue with my mom about the pizza crust, said he knew for a fact that it was a good crust and that there was nothing wrong with the pizza. My mom said "can I just pay the bill and you can shut up then?" Well then the man became irate and starts yelling that she can't tell him to shut up. Said he wouldn't take her money and shoved the ticket back to her across the counter. He then starts yelling at us as we were walking out and literally everyone in the restaurant was turned around staring in disbelief. This man does not need to be in business. From what I'm gathering it may have been the owner based on what the waitress had said. I...
