First order of bread brought to us was stale. We had to ask for another order of bread. Second time it came out fresh. We ordered some salads that were good for appetizer. The main dish was actually tasty enough and decent portion. Where it got really weird is when I asked the server for one little baklava piece to go. He brought me two full boxes full and charged me $20. He told me that it comes as a full order and that they can't do one tiny piece. I've never heard of that. I order the same all around cliffside park and they never say that. Also, why not tell the customer that it comes like that and that it'll be $20, instead of assuming? The entire food order was $80 for two, why would I order $20 dessert? Just some common sense. Then they made me wait almost 10 minutes because they didn't know how to process a refund to the card (since I didnt want it anymore). So I came up with the idea to use that $20 as their tip and told them to tell the owner to use what they would have refunded me as their tip. I do hope they get their tip because it's not my intention not to tip at all, but I think 20% was generous after that uncomfortable mess. To top it all off, the lady who came to our table to explain kept trying to seem like its not my fault that I don't know they only sell you a whole sheet of dessert, instead of one little piece. This place needs to work on their service skills. I dine in literally at least 10 places a month and I haven't had this kind of experience anywhere. I will say this, throughout the meal they did check in on us so it wasn't all bad. But the mishap at the end left a bad taste in my mouth and I definitely won't...
Read moreMy family and I stumbled across this hidden gem while visiting the outskirts of NYC (New Jersey) on a weekend getaway. We love food of all cultures but overall, favor a Turkish and Mediterranean cuisine. Dining at Cinar was one of the best experiences we have ever had and has turned out to be a regular and favorite hot spot for us. I cannot speak more highly of this establishment! From the friendly wait staff to the superior service, you are provided with a true depiction of Turkish and Mediterranean dining from the minute you walk through the door. The ambiance is so warm and comfortable which makes your experience even more pleasant. But the best part....the food! The authentic dishes are not only exquisite, but mouthwatering. There is so much pride and thought put into the execution of their menu. The presentation is beautiful, and the portions are large, which enables you to share amongst family and company and still have enough left over to truly take a piece of this restaurant home with you. I love that Cinar is somewhat tucked away, giving you a very exclusive vibe, however, it is very easy to navigate its location. Do not miss out on the opportunity to share in this incredible...
Read moreYesterday, my family and I, a group of six, visited your restaurant and had a wonderful evening. After placing our orders, we were spoiled with the generous complimentary treats brought to our table. The atmosphere was so warm and inviting that we felt like we were at a family gathering. At one point, we got so comfortable that we couldn’t stop laughing out loud—it was such a joy to be in such a cozy and welcoming environment. Your hospitality was truly exceptional.
As for the food… I’ve been passing by your restaurant for years without stopping in, and after finally trying it yesterday, I couldn’t help but ask myself why I waited so long! Everything was absolutely outstanding. We ordered the mixed grill, octopus, beyti, and lebni, and each dish was a delightful feast of flavors. The presentation and taste of the dishes were impeccable.
Thank you for providing such a wonderful experience. You’ve truly represented Turkish cuisine in the best way possible. I will definitely be back and highly recommend your restaurant...
