Margarite remodeled the inside of Michaels Kitchen and so far has influenced the interior with removing Michael's elevated dining section (not sure if that posed an immediate threat to her success) and painted every inch a clean white color and replaced the flooring with a uniform look neutral gray it appeared from a distance that the kitchen received a complete makeover.
The staff seemed out of synch with the seating greeting and bringing water in the el cheapo smokey plastic glasses (clear and small 10 oz & red and large 20 oz) I had ice water served in sturdy clear glass and I feel more like a grown up drinking out of glass AND the water is more desirable since I can see the contents clearly unlike the plastic smokey alternative but it takes time to get the restaurant exactly how Margerite envisions her NEW place to be, starting with renaming the place Margarites.
She has a big beautiful sign out front that she has to have the new name placed on at my guess a significant investment also I hope she invests in the outdoor frontage and bring out a front endloader to remove all the out of control overgrown vegitation and have it replaced with "microclover" a green like grass alternative that remains level and short and requires no cutting Its beautiful and at Lowes Menards or Home Depot
Also, the parking lot is a mess & dangerous. Is there room on the north side of your restaurant for IN bound traffic? and leaving the south side of the building stictly for exiting traffic and HANDICAP? This is a wishlist item that hitting the lottery can solve due to its expense but I would make all parking closest to the entrance perpendicular to the building on both sides of the driveway HANDICAP ONLY and all other patrons that are not elderly and can walk safely park in the back of your building.
The food I tried the shish-kabob double skewers! I got 1 skewer all meat which I REALLY ENJOYED & was told by "Shelly" the 2nd skewer was overlooked and would I be okay with a chicken skewer instead and I agreed. Both options were VERY TASTY and I recommend both. Finally, I made new friends with a couple sitting next to me as we arrived at almost the same time. I let them order first so I could hear their conversation w the waitress The gentleman ordered MEATLOAF which is something Margerite specializes in and his spouse ordered Chicken Parmesan another Margarite speciality. My new friends were very satisfied w their choices too so I shared my choice satisfaction with them and after visiting with the new owner Margarite and reminiscing about the old days at her previous old place, she shared her excitement of building a wonderful business of course with our assistance
Breakfast is even better at Margarites...
Read moreI heard Michaels Kitchen was a pretty good place to eat. We stopped today to give it a try. My husband ordered a meat lovers omelette and I tried the country fried steak. Soup came with the meal and onion was advertised as one of the soups available but then they add a 1.95 for the cheese and croutons that would normally come with onion soup. Don't include it with the meal and charge 3.95 a cup then. I ordered blue cheese dressing with my salad and was told that's .50 cents more. Alrighty then. The soup and salad were pretty good. But the country fried steak tasted like it was fried in 30 year old oil. I should have spoke up and sent back. I swear the vegetable medley was left over carrots, and cabbage from St. Patrick's Day with a couple of pieces of zucchini added in. My husband said his meat lovers omelette had hardly a piece of bacon, a sausage and maybe a few bits of ham. It was 9.95 for an Omelette. On the way out of the restaurant my husband said to me they need to change their oil, I have the worst taste in my mouth from old grease. Very disappointing. Oh and I did try the bread pudding and it was mushy with no raisins. I don't think I've ever had unbaked mushy bread pudding without raisins. Sorry folks I don't know where the 4 stars came from. Possibly the waitstaff? I feel like we wasted our money tonight and all we wanted was a nice tasty affordable cozy meal. So disappointed. For a 30.00 dinner (with tip) it was neither tasty nor affordable. Please clean...
Read moreMy parents and I tried this place. To say we were underwhelmed is putting it mildly. The server could really use some training. Never offered the table a bread basket, every other table in the restaurant got one. Split pea soup I had was the highlight of the meal. I asked for salad with dressing on the side, it was, but also all over the side of the bowl as well. I only had two bites of salad, and my meal was put in front of me. Two bites, he knew he just brought salad out, so I put the salad to the side to get back to. My dad and I both got the liver and onions. Extremely overdone and very tough to chew. Mashed potatoes were ok. The mixed vegetables were extremely soggy as if they are just sitting in water all day. Halfway through the meal my dad asked about the bread, he said oh yeah, I was just about to offer you one. Seriously? Every other table got it when they sat down. I'm all about supporting small business, but this one really needs some work to just get the basics down. I will end on a positive, the prices are very reasonable and you get a good serving size for the price. They'd really have something going if they can improve the service and quality. My parents really enjoyed the rice pudding they chose for...
