This is a hidden gem! At the corner of a small plaza of shops, it doesn't scream for your attention, but do not pass it up! The restaurant is not fancy, but it is very clean, bright and welcoming. The waitstaff is friendly and helpful. The seating is mostly booths, but there are a few tables and counter seating as well. The booths are roomy and comfortable. Even as a larger sized person, I had no trouble getting in and out. They have an extensive menu and a board of daily specials as you enter. My only suggestion to them would be to have that special board inside the restaurant as well. One of the highlights of the restaurant is their outstanding homemade soups. If you are lucky enough to be there on a day when they have their chicken and dumpling soup, do not pass it up! They do not skimp on the chicken or the dumplings...real dumplings! As for main dishes, I like their beef tips over noodles, chicken siciliano, fish and chips, beef stroganoff and breaded pork chops. Their nachos, considered an appetizer by them is enough to feed 4 people for under 10 bucks! Best part...the nacho chips are freshly made in house! No pre-bagged half stale chips here. They serve a great breakfast too. Don't pass up the crepes or omelettes! Prices are cery reasonable and portions are very generous. I have never left without leftovers! You know a place us good when you are dining in and people are constantly coming in to eat or pick up carryouts. Last Friday around 6pm, there was a constant line at the counter picking up carryouts and easily 80% of this hidden gem was full. I highly recommend! On a recent trip there I ordered a fish and shrimp combo that was a special. The shrimp were excellent! The cook neglected to remove the bloodline from the fish before cooking. That left the fish with a rubbery texture and a slight unpleasant metallic taste. Most disappointing of all is I ordered the coleslaw with the dinner and it was terrible. I could not tell if it was the dressing that was sour or if the slaw itself was spoiled. I only ate 2 bites full. It later made me sick. In spite of that, I am willing to give it another try, but I will be on alert and stick to either the...
Read moreFirst time here with a friend who lives around the block that we needed to visit (: so the location was very convenient. We walked in & was instantly greated & we sat at a clean table (all of them were clean & ready) I absolutely LOVE the esthetic in here it's soooo cute! The menu is massive so there is definitely something for everyone. I about fell over seeing they have cinnimon/raisin french toast! NO ONE has it! They have lots of options for soup which I love. The bathrooms were decently clean overall & it smells nice & everything was stocked (paper towel, toilet paper, soap) 3 of us adults got omelets & my daughter got the lemon chicken. The coffee is insanely good (she let me know they ground it here) I'm not a crazy coffee person but I could tell the difference instantly it was soooo good! My husband likes his hashbrowns extra crispy & they actually cooked them correctly! Yay! The omelets were soooo good! The bacon & ham was actually good quality I didn't run into gristle or anything! Everything was chopped up so no huge weird chunks. The portions were great as well. The half order of the cinnimon raisin was perfect size and they have pretty good syrup too (I hate thin/watery syrup) the lemon sauce was a little weird for my daughter but she still ate some of it. Desert also came with her meal but she has never tried tapioca or rice pudding so our waitress suggested she tried a little bit of both with a huge dollop of whipped cream on both! YUM! She gave both a shot and liked the flavor but not the texture LOL so awesome she let her try both. We were thanked by a man before we left he was grateful for all his patrons you can definitely tell they have regulars so I like that (: such an awesome small town/family owned atmosphere glad we came! For all of us it was $70 not including tip so it was a bit pricey BUT the quality was there and we are all FULLLL!...
Read moreI don't like leaving negative reviews, especially for small local businesses. So let me preface this by saying, the service was great, everything was clean, it wasn't crowded, fair prices and you won't leave hungry. A very nice diner.
That being said, the food was just... not very good.
The hash browns weren't burnt, but they were seriously overcooked. A little crispness is good, but these were hard and crunchy, like chow mein noodles or those shoestring potato stix.
The toast tasted very burnt, which was strange because it didn't look dark at all. Maybe from residue in the toaster? Jelly made it decent, but couldn't fully cover the flavor.
The bacon omelette was good. Maybe just a touch too dry and the cheese needed to be melted a bit more, but overall I enjoyed it and would feel confident recommending it.
I probably could have said something about the food at the time, but the waitress was too sweet and I didn't want to make extra work for anyone. Maybe speaking up would have been better than a negative review, but that's my mistake.
I don't know if I could recommend this restaurant. Service doesn't matter if the food is bad. But maybe in the future I'll give it another try and change my rating. They have really good reviews so maybe this...
