This was one of the chief mustering places for the northern Hunderton County militia during the American Revolutionary war. Minutemen assembled here to respond to Loyalist John Vought's raid on Jones Tavern on 24th June, 1776, a secondary mustering spot located on Sidney Road. The Clinton area was largely known as Sidney then. This raid on Jones Tavern was one of the only few recorded actions in our area of the sparsley populated and heavy Patriot majority Northern Delaware Valley...
