Three of us went there for lunch yesterday. The Celtics game was on but not very crowded lots of empty tables. Good atmosphere. One of the bartenders was our waiter too. Every question was met with confusing answers. Do you have an IPA? Yes but the Taps are low on gas. (No bottles no cans no options ?) when he came back with the two other beers for my friends he had my Wormtown. Excellent. Sweet waffle fries are they made with sweet potatoes? He said “we can make them with sweet potatoes if you’d like”. What? We put in our order for them and they didn’t show up for about 25 minutes so I got up saw him chatting with some patrons and asked him if he knew where our waffle fries had gone to and he said “let me go check” when he returned to the table he said “wow look at that you get what you ask for they just came up.” But in fact they were lukewarm because they had obviously been sitting in the kitchen for quite a while. My friends hamburger was overcooked my steak tips were over cooked and when we gently said so when he asked “how is everything” he said “well it’s a good thing I’m not a cook” and turned on his heel and went back to tending bar. We looked at each other like did that just happen? My friend commented then cook everything medium if you’re not gonna care just cook it medium. I never blame a waiter or waitress for improperly cooked food. Ever. It’s not their job. But when food is cold because you didn’t pick it up and when food is prepared wrong and when you ask is it OK rather than offer a helpful suggestion to try to remedy the problem, you simply walk away like hey it’s not my fault, it’s yours, then I don’t think he gets a good review and I don’t think they get a...
Read moreI’ve never left a review for anything, but my experience at the Simple Man Saloon was just too positive to not write about it. Given the current phase three conditions, the atmosphere was just the right amount of chill. I remember thinking how attentive the entire waiting staff was and I inquired of one particular person who was most present going from table to table making sure that each customer was taken care of. I was told that it was the manager Meg. I was amazed at her energy level and her willingness to tend to each and every customer. Working in the profession that I do I understand the importance of leading by example. I realized that the staff there were fantastic and customer service oriented because the leader of the operation wasn’t asking any staff person to do anything she wasn’t taking the reins and doing herself. Her dedication to the customer transcended to her staff and it brought out one of the most pleasant dining experiences I’ve ever had and for anyone reading this review I whole heartedly encourage you to experience the same. Due to a miscommunication on my part my rodeo salad (which was delicious) was not put in before the kitchen closed and rather than allow me to leave disappointed Meg herself went out back and made and delivered the salad herself! So you see the point to this review is simple. Every manger wants customer patronage, but Meg wanted the whole EXPERIENCE to matter. So for anybody reading this review, stop in to the Simple Man.....where the customer...
Read moreI arrived and sat at a table here at 4:30pm after work. My waitress greeted me at 4:50. My friends arrive at 5:00. I did not see another waitress until 5:40. I had to walk to the bar the order my own drinks and a server who was not in charge of my table reluctantly took our orders at 6:00 ish. Then we got the food at 6:20. My friend had to track down the waitress to get a to go box and the bill at 6:50 because we didn’t receive any check ins or even eye contact. Two tables next to us received drinks and food before us. We left at 6:54. If you’re counting, that means the whole experience was 2 hours and 24 minutes. Two people. We each had two drinks, a friend who had to bail at 545 had 1 drink. Two meals to go for those who couldn’t wait around. And one meal for each of the two of us. Highly disappointed is an understatement! Couldn’t even ask to speak to a manager in fear it would be another hour before I saw them. Hoping if I ever come again their service will be better, I’m certainly sympathetic to the rush of a Friday night but 2+ hours for a dinner that should’ve been 1 hour is a bit insane and frustrating. Only amplified by watching people who came in 30min after you sat down eat a meal before you even speak...
