Watch out Indian food lovers, there is a new boss in town! We were headed towards Front Row for steak night tonight, but Amruth Indian restaurant caught our eye and we decided to give it a whirl. So glad we did; 5šŸŒŸā€™s all around! Yerra Tokku Shrimp appetizer: dang, this was spicyyy 🄵! We LOVE spicy and we very much enjoyed this dish. I wouldn’t really consider this an appetizer, though, but I would definitely order this again as a meal. It’s just not very ā€œappetizeryā€ IMO. Aandhra Chicken Curry (bone in): a very mild dish. We enjoyed this one, but after the spicy appetizer above, this one almost seemed bland, at first. Trust me, it’s not; it’s just that our mouths were still on fire from the above mentioned appetizer. Chettinad Goat: I like goat because it’s slightly less fatty than lamb, in my experience. It was delicious. Chili/garlic and butter na’ans were delicious. Parotta: my favorite item of the night was the PAROTTA ā€œflaky ribbon pancakeā€. It took me back to my childhood, and I’ll admit I had a moment of 🄹. My grandma handmade scallion pancakes (葱油鄼). It’s different than the Korean version (pajeon), which is much chewier and not flaky. I’ve never seen any other culture have a similar pancake to 葱油鄼. It’s both chewy and flaky at the same time (think like a croissant is both flaky and chewy). It’s really hard to describe unless you’ve had it before. I initially saw this menu item, but when I googled an image, the pancake was torn apart and stir fried with a protein and gravy. That’s not what I was looking for, so I opted to just get Parotta as a side. And then I confirmed with our wonderful server that it actually comes as a whole pancake and not torn apart like the Parotta entrees. I knew right away, when she set it down, that this was very similar to my grandma’s scallion pancakes. When I picked it up and started pulling it apart, it flaked the exact same way. I am definitely going back just for this side item. If you have ever had 葱油鄼, you know what I am talking about. Kheer rice pudding dessert: you have to try this if you like hot rice pudding! It was literally the perfect end to an amazing dinner! The rice pudding had raisins, cinnamon and, mostly, just sweet, warm milk and rice…it was excellent! The two of us did not leave a drop. Service and food were a little slow, but they have only been open for a week, and this is their first family restaurant (brother/sister + their spouses). Almost every table was full by the time we left, and all were Indian families except us (which I take to be a positive!). I definitely think this restaurant needs to print a different style menu. I had to Google a majority of the items, simply because I didn’t know what half the names were. The menu is kind of all over the place, and a little hard to follow. Thankfully, I was waiting for someone else so I had some time on my hands. But I definitely could see people being overwhelmed by this menu and not knowing what to order. We were given something to snack on, I think it’s called papad w/ a chutney, but I’m not sure šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø We saw an adjacent table order several Dosa, and they looked absolutely delicious. I can only describe it as an oversized, paper thin crĆŖpe, that you tear apart with your fingers and dip in the masala that’s in the center of the pancake. It almost looks like a blown up burrito, but I don’t even know how to describe the Dosas I saw, and I’m probably butchering the description. Dosa will be at the top of my list to try next time, it looked delicious! The poor Grandma at the ā€œDosaā€ table was laughing at me gawking, I couldn’t stop staring (and possibly drooling…don’t judge!)! Honestly, I have like 10 things I want to go back and try here. I’ll be frequenting for the Parotta, but amongst that also many other delicious sounding entrees. I just need a picture guide to help me with all the names šŸ˜ — at Amruth Indian - Clive, IA.

Came in for dinner on a Friday evening. We enjoy Indian food and are always looking for new places to try. It was not busy but I don’t think word has gotten out yet about this gem. The service was fabulous, explaining the menu and chef specials to us and helping us find the perfect appetizers and entrees at the heat level we were comfortable with. They were just licensed for alcohol and that will be added to the menu next week. They brought bottles of water (with ice if we preferred) and we ordered a mango lassi and a lime soda. We also ordered the chicken 999 medium heat and cheese naan to start while we decided what else to try. The menu was easy to read and was well organized with so many great options. We decided on the butter chicken medium and the medley biryani medium with an order of butter naan. I mentioned my inability to eat cilantro and they were very careful to leave it out of my dishes and mentioned when it was in a sauce they brought out. The chicken appetizer came out with the cheese naan… 10/10 - great spiciness and flavor and the cheese naan was delicious… plenty of melted cheese in the perfectly fried bread. Our entrees came out after we had finished our appetizers and the medley looked like a serving for two. There was seasoned rice (tikka masala sauce) with tender goat, chicken and shrimp and rice on top as well. It was deliciously seasoned and slightly spicy - perfect and so filling. The butter chicken was tender and nicely seasoned with spices and flavor as well. We each were able to eat only half of our entrees and took plenty home for another meal and some of the butter naan too. We were checked on throughout the meal and enjoyed the entire experience and the food. Price for quality and quantity is very reasonable. We will be back to try other menu items.

We visited Amruth couple of weeks back, on a weekend, for lunch. We were eager to try out this restaurant since its opening few weeks back. Parking is sufficient. They did not have the permanent signboard yet. The space inside the restaurant was pretty decent - not too big, not too small. There were around 5-6 families who were already dining. We had to wait for 10 minutes before being seated. We started with ordering GunPowder Paneer Tikka Kabab and Nallakaaram Gobi. We requested both these items to be spicier than Medium. The initial order did take around 20-25 minutes. About GunPowder Paneer Tikka Kabab - we had thought that it would be very flavorful, but it was normal Paneer Tikka Kabab, with small amount of Gunpowder (Chutney powder) sprinkled on top. One had to pay real attention to realize that there is Gunpowder on top. It was almost negligible. Even the spice-level was lower than medium. About Nallakaaram Gobi - even though the name was fanciful, it was nothing but pieces of dry Gobi. Again, very low on the spice level. Both the appetizers were disappointing. Next, we ordered Garlic Naan, Bullet Naan and Paneer Lababdaar. Both types of the Naans were okay. Paneer Lababdaar could have been more spicier and tastier. The quantity to price ratio was very disappointing. It was not sufficient even for 2 Naans. Finally, we ordered Amruth Special Paneer Biryani. Again, on this, taste and spice deserved to be better. Quantity could have been more. Overall, this was not a great experience. Not a recommendable restaurant for Indian food. Some areas of improvement for this restaurant are - Quantity, Cleanliness, Less Pricing, Quick Serving and Taste. We had been eagerly awaiting new Indian Restaurants in the DSM metro, but unfortunately, this restaurant left us disappointed.

My daughter and I grabbed a very rare lunch together and we both wanted Indian cuisine because neither of our significant ā€˜peoples’/losers crave it. After a ā€˜week of weeks that started the week before’ Indian was the only respite and we could accept no substitute.

We chose Amruth Indian Grill in Clive on Swanson Boulevard, right between The Front Row and Play It Again Sports, at the risk of being pedantically pedantic.

We were happily and warmly greeted by Koushik and he thoroughly explained the menu and specials. Pro tip, you’ll need a bookmark and cheaters to fully appreciate and investigate this menu of generous offerings of their prideful cuisine (El Guapo from The Three Amigos would even say there is a plethora of items).

Koushik smiled the entire time he was at our table and even ran back to the chef to check when my daughter was asking the difference between the goat and lamb and which was on the bone or off. My wife is Caribbean so eating around a bone ain’t no thang- she didn’t raise no 1st world eaters in this house….but he was so diligent with making sure she got exactly what she wanted. No joke, it was like sitting at your grandma’s table and she wants to make sure she makes you happy. I instantly loved this dude just like my Grandma Ah-Ha (She’s not from Oslo).

The food came in massive amounts in the most charming receptacles (my daughter said not to steal them). My daughter ordered the Goat Labadar (on bone) with minimal level of heat…it was carefully smothered in onions, tomatoes, ginger, garlic and spiced with garam masala, cumin powder, red chili powder, and cream…with turmeric and coriander dropping by to say ā€œHey Goat, hey!ā€ It was succulent and came off the bone in tender bites covered in a savory, delicious sauce.

I opted for the Butter Chicken (boneless as it is) with medium level spice, and this chicken-in cream, tomatoes, and a blend of spices like garam masala, cumin, and turmeric melted in your mouth…like butter (say this like Mike Meyers said ā€˜Like Buttah’ as Linda Richman doing Barbara Striesand). Regard less how you say it, after eating this delectable dish, you won’t be the way you were……

We also, in gluttonous fashion, split the Chana Masala, medium spice and some Garlic Nan. The Chana, which is cooked in tomato sauce and curry heaven, is a literal explosion of flavor in your mouth, with the texture of chickpea to blow you back up each time your mouth is close to the ground. Happy to say after ordering medium spice, I no longer have to worry about pesky old man nose hair issues….SO GOOD!!!!

Somewhere in our inhaling of top notch crafted and cared for food, Anil became our server, though I think, how much he checked that the food, and spice level was to order and pleasure, this was an owner, no doubt. He shared how they have a regular Sunday Buffet (guessing he told us this based on the amount of food on our table, wink) but they also have a Mother’s Day special buffet tomorrow too. Anil was so helpful, insistent on how to package our leftovers to ensure that we filled each container properly as to prevent spilling. The first thing we did when we got into the car was spill one of the containers inside the bag…yeah he was right on…and we didn’t listen apparently🄰.

We will soooo be back. This little gem had both our hearts as well as our stomachs, just minus some nose...
