Front Row — Restaurant in Clive

Two stars for Sunday breakfast. We were Sunday morning regulars before covid. Breakfast at front row went away but we waited patiently for it to return, calling every couple months to check in. We were really excited when we found out they were serving breakfast again. Our disappointment? The omelettes were fine. But, they're charging as though it's a restaurant. In the past they charged more for your first drink and the breakfast was included. We were disappointed in the drinks and they didn't have toast or breakfast pizza. Sooooo, we didn't have a 2nd drink. When we started out the door the owner said we still owed for breakfaat. $14 for each of us! Plus the drinks. We each had an omelette, my husband had biscuits and gravy. Everything was pre made except the waffles and omelette. BTW, we were the only customers. Now...

Always a decent spot for watching an Iowa game with an open crowd. Watched a couple of football games at the old location in University and the breakfast was good. In the winter when the basketball schedule lines up for a Monday or Thursday have, the steak night they do is a great option. Nothing fancy (basic lettuce salad with a few dressing options and a baked potato), but it's always a good cut of meat, cooked to order and you can't beat the price. Still a fun place to go for Monday night steak night and drinks! They cook my wife's medium rare just fine however, they never get my medium correct- it's either bloodier than a medium rare, or well done! Also the young lady server tha comes in after 6:00pm is basically worthless. She waits on some tables, and just walks by others like she is in na-na land. Not sure what the deal is. Lastly, the Front Row should post a large sign above the bar or on the front door reminding customers that they charge you a service fee if you use a credit card to pay your bill.
