The experience was underwhelming, though the bagels were great! I have fond memories of Brueggers from when I was in college and the only Brueggers in the city where I currently live closed long ago, so it was a treat when I was passing through Des Moines. The staff at this Brueggers were present, but you wouldn't have known it, and I stood waiting for several minutes before anyone acknowledged me, and the person who did was not the person who I stood in front of for 5 minutes being ignored, but a staff person I approached at the register who sent me back in line to the person I stood in front of for 5 minutes without being acknowledged. That person still didn't acknowledge me, but at least another person came from the kitchen and took my order. Three more customers came in after me, all of whom were immediately helped by the staff who ignored me and all of whom were in and out of the restaurant before my order was taken and completed. I couldn't have been inadvertently wearing the invisibility cloak from Harry Potter, because at least two other staff people saw and interacted with me. I thought possibly the first staff person, who wouldn't acknowledge me might have some vendetta against me, though that explanation didn't really make sense because they appeared under 20-years-old and it was at least that long ago that I moved away.

Read moreI started getting breakfast here recently and I have gotten quick, responsible service each time I have gone. Everything I have ordered has been good.
Why not 5 stars? 2 things:
The coffee bar only has those little plastic cups of white liquid crud as creamer. Please consider getting pitchers of half & half, milk, etc. I'd love to pretend my issue is all the plastic waste but it isn't, I just hate those little creamer cups.
It's September 2023 and all half the tables have signs on them saying the table is closed as they are engaged in social distancing. If I thought that these signs were still up because there is an effort for social distancing in place I'd be fine with that but there isn't the case here. There no attempt at distancing still being put in place, they just haven't had someone look around and say "huh, maybe I should take all these signs down." Just makes me worry what the back of house looks like if no one is managing to keep front of house looking...
I came into the shop this morning and ordered a dozen bagels. The shop is located in a very convenient location for me to stop on my way to work and get some treats for my co-workers. When I got to work, I realized that a couple of the bagels were not in the bag. When I called, I spoke to a nice man who was very apologetic for the error. I told him that it wasn't far for me to come back in and I would swing back in to get them. When I walked in the person who had previously served me handed me the bag and apologized for the mistake. I wasn't too concerned about the mistake, because mistakes happen, but the man that I spoke to on the phone (assuming that he was a manager by his different attire from the others working the counter) assured me that the problem had been corrected.
I work in customer service as well, and mistakes happen. I really appreciate you going above what I was expecting and doing it without question. Keep up the...
