Not sure if the people on staff the day we went were new, but upon arrival we were watched while entering, not greeted, and then ignored for ~6 minutes while the guy on bar made drinks. He would look over his shoulder then quickly look away. Finally a girl comes from the back. She very quietly greeted us. I ordered an iced matcha with two flavors and a sandwich. She completely ignored my sister next to me and tried to ring me out. My sister then ordered an iced matcha with coconut. The cashier AGAIN interrupted our order and tried to ring us out, then my sister explained she’d also be getting food.
After we sat down, the guy on bar passed out two drinks. More customers entered, who he greeted and told “I’ll be right with you” to immediately. He set our two matchas on the counter, and immediately I almost think he’s joking due to the layer of water and two ice cubes melting on top of the drinks. There was a solid inch of room left in my drink, and my sisters’ matcha was noticeably darker and fuller than mine. I couldn’t taste the lavender, & the vanilla was extremely weak despite being charged 75 cents for each flavor. I thought I was crazy, so I tried my sisters’ and her single flavor was there but the matcha was very weak and watered down despite JUST picking them up. I don’t like to return drinks as I don’t want to waste product or bother the barista, so I wait until the store clears again to ask for a remake.
I wait another five minutes at the counter before he tells me he’ll be with me. Another minute for the girl to come out of the back. I ask for my drink to be remade into a latte because I genuinely was drinking watered down milk with a weird aftertaste. My order was $36 after I tipped (despite the poor customer service because I still wanted to help out the baristas) so I feel it’s fair to get a drink i can drink.
My food had been sitting by the time I got my latte. I asked for extra of the flavors since I didn’t taste ANY lavender in my matcha, and their lavender is good in the latte. Their lattes have a nice layer of foam and the espresso is smooth. The soup and sandwiches were DELICIOUS and nice portions for the price. The store is clean and nicely decorated. I loved all the options of baked goods and how they even serve fresh fruit. Many options here.
I’ve been a barista for three years. My sister has been managing coffee shops for almost five. If ANY of our coworkers provided the customer service we received, we would genuinely be horrified. The difference between how we were greeted and served versus the white customers was STARK. If my coworker passed out a cup of green water and called it matcha after charging someone 8.25 for it, I’d be horrified.
I want to like the place, but the employees and quality of certain product were enough for me to not return for a while. I love supporting my local businesses and exploring cafes, but I am also human and know where I am...
Read moreMy wife and I went into this establishment around 7pm a few weeks back. She bought Italian donuts that were supposed to be heated up. They told me that the microwave wasn't working at that moment. I'm guessing they had already cleaned up to get out early. The staff looked young and didn't really try to help us when we were looking over the menu. I didn't say anything because my wife like small town coffee shops and even goes there about every 2 weeks. I, however, have an issue with overpriced items and not getting my order completed properly. I encourage my wife to go other places before this one.
Today, my manager went to this establishment and ordered multiple coffees. My coffee was supposed to be an iced medium roast coffee with no cream, no sugar. They gave her a non-coffee with only cream. It was literally milk only. She offered to buy us free coffee and I hate that she got her money taken from her. I poured it out because who wants creamy milk?
My biggest issue is the fact that this happened in Clover. I love this town and I hope that this place can make the change to better customer service because coffee shops should have service as their number one priority, followed closely by quality as the second. Unfortunately, both were lackluster in my experience. I'll take this review down the next time I have a positive experience at this...
Read moreReally conflicted about our experience. We had left the St.Patrick’s festival to come try this place. My daughter and I have had friends talk about it. They still had street signs set up outside, 2, one of which mentioned the soup of the day. When we walked in, we didn’t notice the closing time which had been 20min prior apparently. There was another patron inside. When they noticed we were looking at the food menu, the cashier said their kitchen is closed and only drinks. Bummed after seeing the sign outside but okay. Ordered the Clover frappe and a Caramel Frappe. Immediately one of the guys turns to a girl and tells her our order, she loudly says, “Are you kidding me?!” And scoffs. I asked the cashier if my order is okay, looks like you guys were cleaning. She tells me they’d just washed the equipment but assures me it’s not a problem. She was sweet the whole time. What looked like an owner or manager was on her phone and stepped outside. I really wish they’d just told us they were closed. The caramel frappe had no coffee taste (just like a sweet cream) and the clover one wasn’t sweet at all ($6+ each) The decor was really cool, we peeked upstairs and loved that. I’m willing to try it again and hope for better customer...
