Carrillo's Mexican Food — Restaurant in Clovis

I'm so disappointed and I hate to even share but I have gone to this place for along long time and it use to be ine if my all time favorite places to go but the last few times I have order food they have given me the wrong food and then I have to wait even alot longer to get my right food I had order the 1st time around on top of them not even taken any time to apologize or give me something for waiting along time and this has not happened 1 time but like multiple and I just say thank u and leave but this time I tried to order a meal of just a wet bean and cheese Burrito with beans and rice on the side as a meal and they say they can't make it... but they have always made me and bf and my kiddo this same meal for years with out even a blink and just charge me like it would be a Chilli Verde lol if that's how u spell it hahaha so instead of it being $8.25 for the bean and cheese burrito it would be $10.50 for our plates and they told me im not allowed to order that and I have to have the beans, cheese and rice inside the burrito cause that's how it comes.. I was blown away cause it made no sense they didn't have anything like that for us to even order as a meal like that not everyone wants all the other types of burritos some just want a simple wet bean and cheese burrito with bean and rice on the side that's it... lol and this place is like no it's only for the kids...

So now I and a few others take our business to El Pueblito Mexican Restaurant cause they have this meal on the menu for the Adults and children... and it comes with a toco too!!!! So we get a huge wet bean and cheese burrito with a side or rice and beans and a big toco.... And it was only $11.50 for our plates I just don't under how they can be a Mexican restaurant and not have that for us on the menu for us to order as a meal... but every where else does..... blows my mind I even go to Robertito's and they have that order on their menu as well and u can order it wet for an extra 0.50 cent or just a regular bean and cheese with out rice inside if we want.... sad how they wouldn't work with me in something so simple but make it stressful to talk to them how they were responding to me on this. I would had paid a different as I always have .... but for some reason they have never made that for anyone ... hope one day they put that in the menu as a full mean plate. Beans and rice is cheaper then any other item it should not cost me 15 to 17 buck a plate if they did try to make but didn't want...

Okay so read the reviews on this place thinking it would be a good Mexican food place to eat at. However it is not Mexican food it is Tex-mex food that they serve here I know that a lot of people don't know the difference or think it does not matters but it does. Tex-mex is a mixture of Mexican American (Texan) food. The problem with this is that if a place is promoting Mexican food but it is not serving Mexican food when you get there you will be disappointed like I was. I went to order tacos and was told that the are hard shell tacos (🧐 so like Taco Bell but triple the price). I asked for corn tortilla as that is well a Mexican taco food place staple, I was informed that it would be $2 extra dollars and that my choice of meat was limited if I got the corn tortilla. I instantly laughed as I knew that I could go across the street to dollar general and get a 30 pack of tortillas for 3 dollars. I wanted to leave but I was hungry and decided to give them a try thinking the flavor might be good, which it was but it was not the best I've had. With that being said I read more reviews before commenting on this place and a good amount of this reviews say great things about their fajitas. This just confirmed to me that this is in fact a Tex-mex restaurant and not a Mexican food restaurant as fajitas are not Mexican. Yes there are many Mexican Restaurants throughout Fresno that are well known for their good food. Carrillo's is at the top of my list for many reasons. Two of my favorites, which you just don't find anywhere is their Menudo & Chile Calorado serve with your choice two sides if you want to change one listed on their menu. Menudo is perfectly cooked tender, and not hard/chewy like a lot of other places. The Chile broth is seasoned well and not too Chile Hot or too Salty. I like adding a spoon of their delicious salsa that comes with chips that are served shortly after you've been seated. Now for the Chile Colorado. Tender cubed cuts of Beef in a very delicious Red Sauce that will quickly satisfy your taste buds. I like rolling a piece of my flower totillia, holding it my left hand, then scooping up some refried beans, Mexican Rice & Chile Calorado with my fork using my tortilla like a broom & dustpan right before delivering it to entrance of my storage bin through my mouth. Both portions are satisfying to the point you just might be bringing some home for a second meal. Prices are very reasonable to your wallet so you don't have to worry about that.
