A bit disappointed that I only tried out Rib Crib towards the end of my New Mexico duration. The food served here makes Rib Crib shine since we've had so many bad experiences in Clovis. Although Rib Crib is a chain restaurant, if I hadn't know - I never would have thought it from the food alone.
This fairly big restaurant is located on Prince Street with plenty of parking. They have some AYCE bbq deals going on certain days, but nobody in our party really felt like eating an AYCE meal deal. While the décor is a bit outdated, I personally thought the restaurant was quite comfy - very "everybody knows your name" type restaurant where the servers are friendly and there's TVs playing all around. Ton of dishes including sandwiches, salads, and burgers - but if you go to Rib Crib, you're probably going to want the ribs right? You can order their Championship Ribs - St. Louis style or baby back style with your choice of sauce, or you can create your own combos. Their already made combos seem like the best deal, where you can try a combination of ribs and other types of meat along with two sides. However, their combos run at around $15 but you can order the AYCE baby back ribs for $18.99 or the AYCE St. Louis Style ribs for $14.99. These endless meal deals include unlimited sides and unlimited refills - so if you're hungry, THAT is the way to go!
I ended up ordering some sort of combo that had 4 St. Louis style ribs, 2 slices of Texas Toast, and 2 sides for under $15.00. I think I went with the Oklahoma rub - a sweet and sticky sauce. While the ribs weren't the BEST I ever had, they definitely were pretty amazing for a local food place in New Mexico! The meat was pretty tender and cooked to the point of fall off the bone soft. I loved the Oklahoma sauce! Not as good as Phil's but the flavor was on point! Texas toast was also a pretty good addition to the meat as it absorbed the flavor of the meat.
Tried the mashed potatoes and the sweet and smoky beans as my two sides. Mashed potatoes weren't anything too special, but I loved the beans! I actually got the wrong side order, but our server was quick to fix that mistake by bringing me the right one. In doing so, I was able to try the Cowboy beans as well! Sweet and smoky definitely is a lot tastier with that smoky undertone. I don't remember if they give out complimentary bread, but I was pretty impressed with the food and the prices here!
tl;dr - Definitely would return and try their endless ribs! Service was amazing, and we were in and out within an hour. Recommend the St. Louis style ribs if you don't know what to order and the...
Read moreTwo years ago my dining experience was exceptional. The visits the past few times have been less than ok.Yestrday my family took me for a birthday lunch. I was so disappointed with the food quality. Let me say the server was friendly and prompt. The restaurant was not busy,it was at 2:30.The food came out at different times and we were told it was because there was only one cook. The food was cold the coleslaw was the worst tasting I have ever had.The server told us that the way it was made had been changed. The okra was cold and not crispy. My pulled pork sandwich was cold, had only a small amount of meat on it:dry and tasteless and only one of the 3 BBQ sauces was ok taste wise.It did not taste like it did several months ago.The other two were not tasty at all. .My granddaughter had shrimp and requested cocktail sauce but they did not have any. She does not like tartar sauce. She had to take it home so that she could have her own cocktail sauce and reheated shrimp isn't very good. The other 3 meals were ok but had very little taste and some of the meat was dry and all orders were cold. The fried pickles were good. The queso dip hardened so quickly that we didn't even finish over half of it.My desert was the Berry cobbler al a mode. The crust was undercooked and tasted like under cooked flour. There were very few berries and little cobbler taste. I was not...
Read moreWhen I arrived, Sunday afternoon, the restaurant was not busy, but the two people at the hostess station couldn't determine where to seat me. Once seated, my server was quick with the menu and took my drink order. I ordered a sandwich, fries and a salad. They all came out together rather quickly. Lots of food. Taste of food was ok, nothing to write home about, though. I wasn't halfway through my food when my server brought my bill out, said she forgot to bring it out sooner. Why should I have been given my bill sooner. At that same time, I had already finished about 3/4th of my drink and I had to ask for more. My server was going to just walk away without asking how my food was or whether or not I needed anything. I sat at my table for at least 10 minutes after finishing my meal, waiting for my server to come and pick up my cc to pay. When I stood up and put on my jacket I noticed that someone from the kitchen told the server I was getting ready to leave, that is when the server finally came back to my table. Other than dropping my bill off my server never visted my table after bringing out my food. Hell, I wasn't offered any desert. But a couple of customers sitting a few tables away were stopped by a few times while I was there.
Not sure what's up with this place. Do the servers decide who and when they serve their...
