After my sister recommended this business, I was thrilled to host my soon-to-be 4yo's tea party at Spirit Made Cakes. Based off the initial visit, the look and feel was on point. The barista/hostess was kind and informative. She said I'd have to meet with the owner to book. Np. I get this is not a major corporation, mom/pop establishment. However, it was the lack of professionalism, lack of urgency, and really the lack of intentionality for kids that turned me off. My excitement for my daughter's first TeaParty went from fireworks to a fizzle after my experience with the owner.
I personally believe after everything my business was just not welcome. There were so many opportunities to get it right, but they really dropped the ball. Based on all of the red flags listed below, there is no other deductive reasoning to conclude. It's either an egregious case of incompetence or a case of unwanted business.
There are very similar businesses that cost less and offer more. I really tried to support my community's businesses, but this was the last straw for me. I'm an experience based consumer and Vartine and her business fell flat. It's a no for me. (In my Randy Jackson voice from American Idol) Not bitter, just willing to pay for better.
Ignored Red Flags -I called in Jan to get deets, but was referred to email. Np. At least I thought...Valentine's Day came and went and I still didn't hear back. -I forwarded my previously emailed inquiry for an April Tea Party request. Finally heard back going into March. I explained this would be for 10 kids ages as young as 3/4yo max 14yo. -The owner told me she'd email me kid-friendly options. Waited and waited. Couple weeks went by... nothing until I reached out again. I was sent screenshots of IG pics. In 2025 people look at TikTok and IG optics to even see if its worth the gas to drive out. I was expecting something unique or custom. -The owner said she'd send me an invoice detailing everything. Again, expecting bare min due to the last few interactions...nothing ...I called she didn't know who I was even after previously exchanging info. She asked me to tell her who I was several times, knowing the details of my daughter's tea party. Finally I had to assert myself. I told her I was coming in to pay the deposit to book the date. -I come by the bakery as expected. The hostess went to inform her of my arrival. She came back to ask me who I was again. Now I'm perplexed and ready to abandon ship. My sweet baby Genevieve was with me, too. I wanted her to meet my daughter. This woman told me she would send me an invoice instead of taking my deposit in store...this should have been the last straw, but as we do for our kids...we push to see that smile on their faces. -After not hearing from her all day, I emailed her at 10p last night. The invoice sent had very little detail. It resembled the quality of my 9yo niece's first attempt at a power point. I was deflated and exhausted with the lack of urgency and...
Read moreSuch a cute place with lots of potential, but sadly it strongly lacks. The negative reviews have lots of commonalities and they’re true.
First time going, walked in and did get a “Hello” and were told we can grab menus. That’s it. For someone who has never been here, we had no clue how things work. Do we sit ourselves? Do we need to wait to be seated? After minutes of standing there and stopping someone to ask, we found out you sit yourself. Great! Already off to a not so great impression. We sit down, glance at the menu for maybe 10 minutes. No one stops by. Again, will someone take our order or do we need to go back to the counter? Waited another 5 minutes and then stopped someone else to ask, yes you go back to the counter to order. Finally ordered and was told what I wanted they did not have available. Whatever, ordered something else.
Food did take about 15 minutes or so to come out which was nice. I got the avocado toast and added an egg. $6! To add 2 fried eggs. My husband got the avocado bagel sandwich and then for drinks he got the iced chai latte and I got a vanilla iced latte.
Avocado toast was decent just way too much cheese. The avocado bagel sandwich lacked salt and flavor. The vanilla latte was not good at all. Not sweet at all, didn’t get a vanilla taste. On the contrary, the iced chai latte was good but extremely sweet. My husband and I mixed our drinks back and forth which did help level them out.
The place is super cute and clean. So that’s a plus. 2 small food items and the 2 drinks, just shy of $60!! So not worth it. So many better options at a fraction of the cost.

Read moreSo it's been 3 visits , so I feel compelled to share . Spirit Made Cakes: A Slice of European Heaven Forget those cookie-cutter franchise bakeries and their "pretend pastries." A new gem has opened its doors, and it’s a game-changer. Spirit Made Cakes is a bakery that truly lives up to its name, crafting authentic European-style pastries with a quality that is nothing short of incredible. From the moment you walk in, the aroma of fresh-baked goods is intoxicating. I was blown away by the authenticity and attention to detail in every single item I tried. The French croissants are a revelation—flaky, buttery, and light, they have that perfect shatter on the first bite and a delicate chewiness within. They are everything a croissant should be, and a world away from the doughy facsimiles you find elsewhere. And the pastries! The Baklava, with its perfectly crisp layers of phyllo dough, is a masterpiece of sweet, nutty perfection. It's a taste of Greece right here, with just the right amount of honey and spices. Every pastry, whether it's the fruit tarts or the Danish, feels like it was transported directly from a small European patisserie. Spirit Made Cakes isn't just baking; it's a celebration of tradition and quality. If you're looking for an authentic taste of Europe, with pastries that are made with skill and passion, do yourself a favor and visit this new spot. You won’t be...
