We had just arrived in Cody and stopped by Bubba's BBQ to get dinner. Our kids were hungry so we were going to get some appetizers but none of it was made in house. So we decided just to order the main course. We ordered a smoked turkey platter which was very dry and had been reheated/seared on a flat top griddle. Unfortunately I don't think the griddle had been well cleaned because the turkey carried the flavors from other food and was dry. My husband had the brisket quesadilla. We are from Texas and have had restaurants for several years. We are well aware of what traditionally goes in a quesadilla and what it is typically served with. My husband's quesadillas were so incredibly thin with hardly anything inside. The meager filling was compromised of a thin layer of cheese, a few shreds of brisket, and some black olives. It was served with a little paper container of sour cream and a plastic 2oz container of some bland, acidic, store bought picante salsa. It was utterly forgettable and barely worth eating. No guacamole. No pico. No care for the food. We didn't complain but didn't intend to return. The server was civil but not exactly friendly. As we were leaving my husband stopped by the front to pay the bill. While he was paying someone, whom we assume was either the owner or a manager, asked him how was the meal. He told her it could have been better. The woman pushed for more information. So my husband thought maybe they are really interested in customer feedback so he explained that the turkey was dry and had been reheated on a dirty flattop. She got very defensive, looked at the receipt, crumpled it up, threw it in the trash and proceeded to walk off mid conversation. My husband decided to address the behavior by pointing out to that she obviously didn't actually want the feedback she had asked for. Her response was "well I guess our food is not for everybody". He wished her a good evening and left. So NO, I do not...
Read more$80 meal that felt more like cafeteria with a grouchy lunch lady running the show, and overcooked, no seasoning, cafeteria food. Go to the other place in town until these guys can get it together with new management and a better cook like they used to have. WOW they have lowered their standards but not their prices.
Service: The waitress might as well stood on a table in the middle of the room and screamed I want to go home, and "I don't want to be here". It would have been more subtle than treating people like you did, Sister if don't want to be there do us all a favor and go home. I work 15 hour days 5-6 days a week and have never treated someone I work with or work for with such hostility as I saw from her tonight towards all the people in there spending their hard earned money. Perhaps a job at the library in the sorting room where you don't have to interact with people?
Food: Prime rib meal at a prime price, and subpar results more like thick post roast, or microwaved reheated prime rib. Baked potato and the fixings cafeteria style butter packets and yep sour cream in squeezable packets like Mayonnaise you get at Wendy's. No salad plate for salad bar, was given to me, and they told me to go sit down and my server would bring it. NOPE!
**Please understand (tourists) this is NOT how it is done here in Cody, and if you also experienced this here (on behalf of us locals) I am sorry. It just ain't right being treated like that and this place used to have good food. I saw license plates from many different states in the parking lot, and my heart hurt to think about the people that saved money to travel and bring their family to dinner here. (not cheap to eat here, same price as a full buffet at another restaurant in town, who actually has good prime rib)
I usually always tip 50% of the bill, but this go around I gave under 20% . Won't go back again ever, even if they are the only restaurant open...
Read moreMy son and I ate here because we were hoping for a warm meal that was more than a sandwich, which we had been eating for a few days due to traveling. The first thing was that we did not get our salad plates forever for the salad bar. Then we got the plates and went to the salad bar. When we returned, our main course food was on the table. I ordered spare ribs, and they were out, so I got a ribeye (medium). I couldn't even eat one bite, and, honestly, I've never had a ribeye that tough. Ever. In my whole life. Ever.... My son got the brisket, which he did really like. It was almost $100 for 2 people. It wasn't a good experience for us. When I went to pay the hostess, she asked how the meal was, so I expressed that I was unable to eat the steak. She went on to ask what kind of steak and how I had it cooked, and then she said she was sorry. Lol. That was more of an insulting conversation than a conversation showing concern about the food and service. In all, I can...
