We booked our hotel with the Best Western Sunset Inn in Cody, WY on July 27th, 2022 in the afternoon on the way to Cody from Red Lodge on the Beartooth Highway, that just recently opened. We arrived in Cody, had dinner, and headed to the Best Western Sunset Inn to get cleaned up for the rodeo, which starts at 8pm. When we arrived at the hotel at 7:40, we checked into the front desk to get our keys for our disability room (we have a son with special needs). When we walked into our room, we found the room had not been cleaned. So we called the front desk at 7:50 to ask for another room because we needed to be at the rodeo at 8pm. The person at the front desk who said she was the manager said she would send someone over right away to clean our room because they didn't have any available rooms (we looked it up online and their website showed they had availability, so obviously she wasn't telling us the truth). At 7:56, an employee walked by with black and orange skunk hair and nose piercings, to which I asked, "where are your cleaning items?" She replied, "I am the manager." I then said, "So you didn't come to clean the room?" She told me "No, housekeeping is going to come right away to clean your room." I told her that it had already been 6 minutes and I said, "so you showed up but you're not cleaning anything?" Meanwhile our child with special needs is sitting the car waiting to poop. We asked for a refund and she told us she couldn't refund it because we booked through a 3rd party. After a few minutes of arguing with me, she finally agreed to refund our money. As we were waiting for the room to be refunded, the same woman continued to tell us she could call housekeeping to have the room cleaned. But by that time, we were done and did not want to stay there after that experience. Plus we needed to find a bathroom.

Read moreThe Best Western in Cody is a very nice facility. Campus style, park right outside your door, very convenient. Several buildings and almost all are back away from the highway so it is very quiet. There was no noise heard from adjacent rooms so the walls must be well built. Even early risers next door left without waking me. The grounds are nicely laid out and well kept. the rooms are spacious, up to date decor, mostly in a fresh western theme. Nice furniture, not the cheap stuff often found. Rooms were very clean. The breakfast is in the lobby up front so expect a nice walk in the morning, outside, through the parking lot, or center common grounds. The breakfast is conventional, hot waffles, pastries, toast, cold cereal and packs of oatmeal. This place did offer hot proteins, bacon or sausage. The breakfast room is so VERY small and crowded. Watch out for bumping and rude patrons, and just figure on taking food back to the room because patrons tend to hoard their table long after they have finished eating. Certainly needs more tables and chairs to accommodate such a large motel and guests. But the breakfast held me until lunch every day. Rates might seem higher than normal for a best western, but compared to the outrageous rates all motels charge in Cody, it is a bargain. it is about a three block walk up the street to the Buffalo Bill Museum, for those inclined to walk a little. I would DEFINITELY stay here again and...
Read moreOther than a couple very minor issues, our stay could really be rated 5 stars. We were scheduled for 3 nights but couldn't make the first night because the roads out of Yellowstone were closed due to snow, and we were forced to head north to Montana. Due to no cell service, I didn't get an opportunity to call the hotel till early evening to let them know we couldn't make it, and thankfully, we were not charged for the night. Upon check-in the next day, we were put in a suite. IT WAS AWESOME!!! AAA booked the reservation, so I don't know if a suite was requested at the time of booking or if it was because the hotel was relatively empty or if I was a recent rewards member. Whatever the reason, WE LOVED OUR ROOM!!! Each separate room had its own thermostat, including the bathroom, and tv's in both the living room and bedroom. The only thing the room was lacking was an extra blanket. That's it! The only complaint I had was the biscuits at breakfast. The bottoms were hard as a rock. The only complaint my boyfriend had was the door to the indoor pool. There was some sort of problem with the lock. Otherwise, our stay couldn't have been better and we wished more of our vacation had been spent at this hotel. We also loved Cody and wished we had more time to explore the town. The scenery around Cody is absolutely beautiful, and the wildlife abounds. This is some place we definitely...
