Gluten Free Goodness! This was my third visit and I still am amazed. This first visit was coming across this place accidentally because my 2 year old grandson was "starving" on our way to Rhode Island. It was a pleasant and unexpected surprise. My daughter noticed the "gluten free" sign, so we walked in. I ordered the "Mad Cow" and I was not mad in the least bit for ordering it. A mouth watering gluten free relation to any Philly Cheesesteak sandwich I had in Philly. Happily this version is on their very own gluten free homemade flat type bread. The bread, yes GF bread is delightfully warm, seasoned as well as having a delicious buttery flavor. The first bite is always my favorite. The horseradish sauce, fried roasted peppers & onions through the thinly sliced roast beef, has me sighing from the comfort of really good food. Creamy, crunchy, and cheesy gooeyness run down my chin, and this makes me incredibly happy. (My daughter was equally happy with her Sammy the Bull chicken roasted sandwich which she shared with her son during our first visit) Their Slogan reads: Food So Good, It's Addictive, Please Eat Responsibly. So true. I wish they were closer than the hour ride on route 85 in Salem, CT. Open everyday at 11am. The staff is friendly and it is obvious they have repeat customers from local workers, families and people on their way to the New London Beaches. There are a few tables in this quaint store front. Please go! it's worth it. find me on instagram @gltuenista_foodie

Went in for the first time today on a whim to try it out. Sadly, I wasn’t impressed. I ordered onion rings and there wasn’t any. So I asked for an order of Garlic Knots. Was told they were sold by singles which is silly if you ask me, and she said she’d check if they had any. They ended up having 5. It should be an order of 5, not sold singular. They’re not that big, but judging by my bill- I guess it’s a way to make a larger profit. I then also ordered the mozzarella triangles off the appetizer list and was also, unimpressed. Extremely greasy and the cheese was not melted. It was like a thin brick of mozzarella in a battered grease coating. For the pizza, we ordered a large white pizza with chicken, ricotta and spinach. Way overdone, lacked flavor… meh at best as far as pizza goes. Your menu also doesn’t state all toppings are extra. You don’t even get the first one free. I can honestly say the best part of our lunch was the raspberry iced tea and thank goodness because we paid $6.98 for 2 drinks. Our bill in total, was $60.31 2 drinks, a wrap, 5 garlic knots (sold singular) a large white pizza with 3 toppings and mozzarella triangle appetizer. $60! I am still flabbergasted at the drinks price alone. We won’t be back.

I asked for well done and in the brick oven. Why folks give me a pie with the cheese looking like it was stuck in a microwave? Man, I said it like three times and the lady on the phone was very nice and said yup. So, either she didn’t do her job to say well done and brick oven, or the workers who worked there just disregarded the order so they could rush and put the other pies in. It is SO obvious it’s not in the brick oven so if your going to be lazy because it’s too much work you gotta at least COOK the pizza more to fake it since they always fake it being in the brick oven by cooking it more. If there are so many pizza restaurants in this town either somebody is setting the bar too low for the average colchester pizza standard or people just don’t care. I lived here 18 years of my life and the lackluster effort has been consistent. The wings are amazing, some of the best lemon peppers out there, but if your a pizza spot, then make good or at least put EFFORT in the pizza at a literal pizza.come on now

This is only my second time at The Plum Tomato but after the service we received this time I can say it may be the last. Everything started out fine, we seated ourselves and in a timely manner the waiter came over. We ordered buffalo wings for an appetizer and a salad and a pizza for dinner. The wings came out and everything was still fine. He brought us the pizza shortly after and this was pretty much that last we saw him. He didn't give us plates for our pizza so i had to take the bones from my wings and pile them back on the plate with the wings we hadn't gotten to, and then wipe off my plate to use for the pizza. He never returned so I couldn't ask him for another drink (since i was done with my first shortly after we received the appetizer) or where my salad was. We began eating our pizza and now both of our drinks were empty but no waiter. We finished eating the pizza, and still, no waiter. So we waited. And waited. And waited some more. We ate a little on the late side so it's not like the place was busy. It was us and two other tables and I don't believe he was waiting on the other tables. We finally saw him sitting at a table with other wait staff rolling napkins. After several minutes I think he noticed that we were looking around because he finally came over. I asked him for another drink and some boxes for our leftovers. He left and never came back. So once again, the waiting game. Nothing. After several more minutes I couldn't wait any longer so I got up and asked someone else if they could give me my check and the boxes. She gave me the boxes and the check, but the check had the salad on it that I never received. The waiter saw me up there so he finally came over. He adjusted the check for the salad he never gave us and we were on our way. So, this visit was quite disappointing and I couldn't wait to get home to get a big glass of water since I was unable to get a drink there. The first time we ate here the service was fine and it was much busier, but unfortunately, the service tonight will probably always be...

Ohhhh plum tomato... where do I start. I'm a bit conflicted as to how I should rate them. I would say between a 2 and a 3.5, if I had that option. It's funny because I've had some decent experiences here.. definitely a solid 4. However, I've also hr some pretty bad experiences here as well. Perhaps more mediocre or negative experiences to positive. But, here we are in Colchester where your options are Chinese... Chinese... Chinese... dirty fast food... and... plum tomato. So, let me start by saying the first thing that upsets me about this place is the customer service. The place is staffed by what I assume is high school kids. Some are friendly, but most of them have quite the attitude on the phone. It's usually even worse in person at times. Ok, so maybe I catch some of them on a bad day. The food could possibly make up for it, right? Wrong. I usually get wings and a some type of sandwich. I swear I've had wings that were basically raw. But, I've also had them come out very good at times. Same thing with the sandwiches. It's like a guessing game if they will even put the right ingredients on. One time I ordered the meatball sandwich and it was literally missing the meatballs. So, if you are a person that likes to gamble, you should take a chance at Plum Tomato. It's a crapshoot if they'll get your order right, if it will be done with a smile, and if it will taste good. Welcome...
