I do like stop and Shop but every where you have your ups and downs. Positives to me is I really like Nature's Promise items. I know my family is eating healthier and the store is always clean. The downsides are I'll give examples. I have allergies and wanted bran muffins but not with raisins. They weren't even marked to say they we're bran muffins. So I went to the bakery and inquired and said I just need to make sure they are actually bran muffins bc of no labeling and don't have raisins bc of an allergy. She assured me that they we're bran and definitely didn't have raisins. I bought them. Well whatcha think? I open it get ready to eat it and notice it's full of raisins. People don't take allergies seriously and if she wasn't sure she should have said that but instead assured they were raisin free. And how frustrating because you think you are about to enjoy something and you can't. Next is the deli. How many times I go and get meat and get residue from whatever they sliced before. My ham was full of roast beef blood. I return it and I now avoid the deli counter. So it's good for somethings but definitely buy things packaged up and you know what you are getting. Today they had Easter Candy. It said 90 percent . There are shelves of two kinds of candy clearly near the 90 percent. I get up to register. They didn't ring up 90 percent. I asked the cashier.next I know a I guess a manager or lead says that's not 90 percent off and someone has already complained but nothing was done about it. I told her it clearly near the 90 percent and that is terrible advertisement. She said sorry that's how the store put it. She would not give me the discount. The only positive if finally the candy got moved away from the 90 percent. Beware Beware when getting chicken salad. I bit into a big bone and was choking on it. Please check your stuff before giving it to anyone that has swallowing problems. Well today there was a irate maybe crazy not sure lady terrorizing people in the bathroom. I live in another town but was in the area with my boyfriend and stopped at this location. On Friday 4/11, I had a coin star ticket from MY hometown Stop & Shop that I did not redeem at the time due to long lines, so while out in colchester I decided to try and redeem it. My mistake. The customer service desk scanned my ticket and proceeded to tell me it was already redeemed. When I told her that was impossible she went to the back and came back with a Polish woman who then accused me of duplicating the ticket and cut my ticket up. I was stunned. I asked her how that would be possible and with such an attitude told in so many words that I was a thief and thereās nothing she can do for me. It was humiliating standing there basically being told Iām a criminal in front of a bunch of strangers. My boyfriend was at self checkout, so when we got back into the car he asked me what happened and when I told him he took my ticket and went back into stop and shop. When he went to the desk the polish woman gave him even more of an attitude and brought out another manager (Iām not sure heās management considering how he acted too) but a man named Ray, came out and was questioning him asking him āwhy I didn't redeem my ticket when I had the chanceā and āwhy I chose to come to this locationā. And what doesnāt even make sense is how could my ticket already be redeemed if you guys take the tickets after scanning themā¦? The seafood and meat departments donāt have anyone working the counter half the time and thereās no one in sight to ask. The best service I get is at the deli and even then Iāve been directed to precut meats instead of just slicing what Iām asking for, but I get it, itās a convenience option. There are never enough registers open and Iāve gotten used to that and started using self check out. Tonight I used the self checkout lane per usual and was given MAJOR attitude from a woman (not the sweet girl working the self checkout, she was nice) because of a question I didnāt even ask. Her coworker asked me if I wanted to redeem my bottles (5 gallon jugs) at the register. I thought wow thatās so nice since I donāt see the machine anymore. I say yeah if I can that would be great. So he asks a register employee who proceeds to, in front of me, scoff and say no. Which would have been fine with me. She then comes to the register for the remainder of my transaction to continually tell me I should have come to a regular register with the non deposit 5 gallon jugs I was buying and to top it off, the machine and woman tell me LOUDLY not to put my item on the weight scale because itās too heavy. Well god forbid Iām trained like a monkey to put everything on the scale immediately or else it looks like Iām stealing. Itās honestly always the worst experience to shop there and it really stinks itās the only place in town besides Noelās which is more expensive. But guess where Iād rather...
