Maki Asian Bowls offers some of the most delicious and best prepared food I've ever tasted.
Unfortunately there is a trade for the taste. You are nearly guaranteed to have bathroom issues after eating here. I'm not sure what they add to the food to make it so good but it definitely comes with bowel irritation.
Normally I would only tack off one star for bodily response. The greatest offense for my harsh review is my most recent experience. My party and I were the only patrons in the restaurant at the time of our dinner. Yet we waited 30 minutes after completing our meal to be given our checks. We were not addressed for service after receiving our food - at all.
The final nail in the coffin for my 2-star rating is the subtle racism inflicted on my group. My non-white friend was given chop sticks with no fork with his meal. Every caucasian member of the table were to use forks.

Read moreMaki Asian Bowls was absolutely delicious. My son (10 years old) had gone here a year ago while visiting my parents here in NoKY, and he insisted that we go back for my birthday. It had been a year, and he is young, so I think we all kind of questioned whether or not it was as good as his memory was telling him. We obliged him and went for my 47th birthday with my parents and my daughter (12 years old), and all I can say is WOW. The ramen (which we all had different versions of) was tremendous. The bubble tea (that my kids just love) was fantastic. The service was prompt and friendly. I live in New Orleans and have access to a lot of good food, but this ramen, and at this affordable price, is better than anything I’ve had at home. Do yourself a favor and GO! I cannot say it enough…GO! Don’t wait! GO!!! 10/10 Thank you, Maki, for making a lovely birthday...

Now to the entres. The ramen bowl had very unique flavors to me. I imagine that this is the traditional flavors. I love trying new flavors and this had a gentle spicyness and subtle herbs. It wasn’t as salty as our American food so it took me time to adjust. Worth it.
The orange chicken wasn’t as sticky sweet as what we’re used to and I loved it.
It was refreshing to taste the food rather than something laced with so much salt and sugar you can’t distinguish...
