I spent time searching and comparing Italian restaurants all 15 minutes driving range from my home. I had high hopes for this place because pasta is one of our favorites even though it’s easy to cook at home, sometimes it’s good to have pasta options for outings.
The restaurant has a nice atmosphere, sizable crowd of elders, friendly waiter team, but this was definitely not a 4.3 star dining experience. I would say this place is a solid 3 star- but some of the food we had should have gone in the trash bin.
We ordered: House salad. I kid you not this was iceberg with ketchup. I kid you not. Absolute embarrassment for a “family owned Italian” the salad couldn’t have come with at least two more vegetables perhaps? Nope. Ice berg. Ketchup. Send it to the table!
Caesar salad, I’ve had better one from dominos. Croutons was stale. Parmesan had been left out so long it became rigid and dry. We joked that we were eating fingernail trimmings.
Chicken Murphy- the flavor profile was excellent, (shallots cherry peppers and mushrooms) but the execution was poor. Pretty sure the thin, sad chicken breast was frost burnt, and the sauce was all over the plate, too runny. Pasta was cooked well.
Eggplant Parmesan- decent. (They don’t serve it on spaghetti by the way this is an extra charge! That was unusual from my experience.
Pizza Margherita: again decent. Nothing to be wowed about. The tomato slices on the pizza was bottom shelf and made me think of Whataburger. I may be spoiled having grandparents who tended heirloom tomato farm most of my life. But there are better store bought tomatoes than what they went with that is for sure.
Judging from the Abundance of elders there, Bellissimo’s may have had glory back in the day but now for a 4.3+ star Italian dining experience I have to advise that we folks make the trip to Cane Rosso.
Onto the search for the next local Italian restaurant experience, we can’t keep driving to downtown Fort Worth...
Read moreOur service was bad. Our server was a small, young, brunette girl with her hair in a bun, who doesn’t completely understand customer service. I had a specific request for my food—not anything extra, not anything unreasonable or difficult in any way. And, of course, I asked very politely and kinda laughed about it, since it’s a less-common request. I explained that I always have to over-emphasize so that my food turns out how I like it. She said something here that bothered me from the get-go: “Well, I’ll definitely tell them, but if they get it wrong, that’s on them.” Yes. Obviously. But you’re the server - If you bring out food that isn’t prepared the way the customer has asked, then it’s back on YOU. She was passing the buck as if it was entirely out of her hands and seemed to be saying, “Don’t take it out on my tip if your food is wrong.” What she should’ve said was, “I’ll make sure they get it right.” And again, use your eyeballs to see if it’s prepared correctly before you serve it. As you may guess, she did not bother to use her eyeballs, and my food was not cooked how I like it. I didn’t have the energy or the patience to send it back and wait for a new dish. But when she checked on us after a while, I did mention that my food was not prepared correctly. She made no offer to have the food re-made; she simply didn’t care. After she brought our check, she deliberately ignored our table as we waited and waited for her to pick up our credit card. The restaurant was not at all what you’d call “busy,” and she passed by our table multiple times. I even started to call out to her as I saw her take away another table’s check/credit card so that she could take ours as well. She ignored me. We obviously have no desire to go back. There were one or two things that kept me from rating it at one star, but they’re inconsequential, so consider my two stars very fair for the...
Read moreNot good. Ordered appetizer, salad, entree. Salad came out first, followed by appetizer, and 2 minutes later by entrees. Table full of food. Call me crazy but that is not the order which food is presented nor timed correctly. You should never have multiple dishes on your table at the same time. Let alone all three. The waiter is supposed to control that timing, coordination with the kitchen. Well, perhaps the food would be good. Nope. I ordered the chicken carciofo, wife order chicken florentine. Both dishes tasted identically. Chicken had a fish taste which tells me they'd probably cooked a fish dish and at the very least failed to properly clean the pan or stove top ... at worst used the oil from one on the other. Then we ordered a lemoncello cake for desert. It was OK but waiter presented it with a plastic fork. ... Plastic. We are far removed from COVID protocols so this is strange. As I paid the waiter I asked about it and he said it was because the utensils were wrapped in napkins. You know, like you see on tables. The dinner napkin wrapped around the utensils. So apparently they wrapped up all the forks, had none loose, and opening a napkin was too much ... so we got ... plastic. There's just too many good to great Italian restaurants in the area to...
