Last night my husband and I went to Corky’s in Collierville for dinner. The drive thru line was completely around the building and two cars shy of being out on Poplar Ave, so we weren’t sure if dining room was open or not, but we took our chances and went in. The dining room was indeed open, and just like many other restaurants, the staff was extremely limited. In fact, there were only two young ladies manning the dining room, both named Shalonda. It was apparent one was a waitress and the other appeared to have been the hostess, as she is the one that greeted us and her uniform was a bit different. BOTH of these ladies were on point!! There were about 6 other tables with people dining in and these ladies handled all of us wonderfully. The one that I believe was the hostess was helping out with waiting tables, getting drinks, delivering foods, etc. We knew the wait time to get our food would be longer than usual just by the line for the drive thru, as the kitchen staff can only do so much, but it actually was not that bad. We have been to several other places since the pandemic and the massive staff shortages everywhere and many of those experiences have been everything but pleasant, but not at Corky’s. Shalonda P. and Shalonda D. were both so kind and professional even though we know they were under a tremendous amount of stress and one had worked from opening to close!! Now, that’s dedication and a loyal employee. Oh and they are BOTH NEW employees that have only been there a month !! Both my husband and I expressed our gratitude to both of the ladies and also spoke with Wade, the manager, to let him know what a great job these ladies were doing. I really hope the higher ups and possibly the owner sees this as they need to know what an asset they have with these two ladies!! Now as far as the food, I agree with others, it has changed a bit, especially the onion loaf, which used to be my favorite guilty pleasure. Not so much now, the onions are pretty much nonexistent and it is a tower of fried greasy batter. The chicken was still good as in the past, just much smaller now and the bologna was still delicious, as was the rolls. Banana Pudding was not good to me at all as it tasted like the smell of glue. But overall we will go back because the service we received outweighed the negative onion loaf and banana pudding...
Read moreThe Corkys in Collierville is the worst ever!!! I just left after waiting in drive-thru for 30 minutes for 2 catfish dinner and 2 chicken tender and fries order with 2 sides of spaghetti before i pulled off i checked order only for me to have incorrect order!! I was missing a fish plate but instead had a pulled chicken plate in which I tried to get the attention of the rude young lady with glasses and shoulder length brown hair who turned her back to window as I'm explaining to her I'm missing fish plate the lady with long braids who was trying to correct the order came over with fish plate and swap out the pulled chicken plate which was fine. However, I was missing 2 sides spaghetti but as I was trying to get their attention the rude cashier turned her back again so I had to honk my horn to inform Im missing spaghetti so as I'm trying to explain to the rude cashier who by the way had the worst frown on her face like I was bugging her at this point for making sure I get my order that I paid $ 60 bucks correct. I'm telling her what I'm missing but once again the lady with long braids came to the rescue but she was moving so fast I couldn't tell her I'm short 1 side of spaghetti. So, I had to honk again so know the rude cashier opened window and now I'm telling her still missing spaghetti at this point she looking confused and said" what"? I told her again and asked if she had my ticket so she could look at my order she responded you look at your ticket, At this point I had to match her negative energy ! to tell her again im missing spaghetti. Now the cook, I'm assuming comes around and say I'm gonna have to pull up cause I'm holding up his line. ABSOLUTELY NOT! I said. The rude cashier had the nerve to mimic what the cook said but I was not about to pull up and wait another however more minutes for a item that they forgot to pack but once again the lady with long braids came to the rescue! I will not be back to this location never again and it's the closest to my home! I have not been pleased with the quality of the food at this location lately anyways and I frequent this place at least 3x a month but I will go to Corkys on poplar before I drive to Collierville for...
Read moreWe brought family from out of town to your Collierville location today for lunch. Our guests were really excited to try the best ribs in Memphis, so we knew Corky's was the perfect choice!
Unfortunately we had the worst experience at a Corky's from the cleanliness, to food quality, to service, and even to getting our bill at the end of our visit.
I'll start with cleanliness. When we were seated at our booth, the table was a bit dirty and sticky, and we had to ask three times for it to be cleaned. When the server finally came over, she used a damp cloth but unfortunately ended up wiping sticky crumbs into our laps. To make matters worse, after eating the ribs we found the wet naps to be dried-up and unable to be used. So when one of our guests went to wash up in the restroom he found the men’s restroom to be dirty and lacking towels.
As for the food quality, we ordered a couple of pulled pork sandwich plates, a classic pulled pork sandwich, a full slab of the muddy ribs with sides, and a combo with brisket and half a slab of ribs. The buns were quite hard, almost stale, and the pulled pork was full of tough, gristly bits. The brisket was a bit unappetizing with its grey color, and honestly, none of the meats had much flavor—it felt like they had gone without seasoning. The fries, too, appeared overdone and tasted kind of freezer burned instead of fresh.
In terms of service, our server didn’t seem very friendly or attentive. We had to ask multiple times for the table to be cleaned, and our orders didn’t all come out together. The sandwiches came out first, but one of them wasn’t even made correctly. I found myself getting up to grab napkins after asking for them several times, and we also had to ask a few times for a box for our leftover ribs before one of our guests went to get it themselves.
We ended up having to go to the register to get our bills after asking for them multiple times.
I was really looking forward to sharing the Corky’s experience with our family, but it did not turn out to be the experience I...
