My review is from when this restaurant originally opened with all the hullabaloo surrounding their imported special italian oven. I was drawn in and had to see if it was worth all of the press. I remember going with my family as a kid and ordering a pizza similar to a 3 or 4 meat. Everything was going well until I was served a pizza that by every measure was essentially raw in the middle. I remember my parents age I asking about it being under done and seeing if they would cook it longer or remake it and being told by the owner that I was wrong, it was cooked perfectly, he doesn't make mistakes and that I should have know to expect a meatlovers style pizza to be essentially raw in the center. This was a relatively pricy pizza at the time and to treated like my parents and I were buffoons when a pizza was so clearly undercooked left a lasting memory and impression on me. I have never once recommended this place and this left such a bad taste in my mouth, that many many years later I still feel the need to leave this review. He did NOT remake the pizza and REFUSED to refund us for that pizza and I got to just not eat... That was all we needed to never come back. I am more than willing to try places again and understand mistakes happen, but placing the blame on a kid for ordering a meat lovers style pizza, that even a chain restaurant can cook fully, and refusing to make aanything right. That I...
Read moreAfter seeing this pizza place pop up, I was really excited to eat here. I tried really heard to like this dining experience but it was a rough start. First off the menu wall is really crowded and hard to narrow down up close. Nothing sticks out and the universal font was challenging for old eyes. The staff was kind, but not really helpful. Sadly the young man who took my order put my customer number INSIDE my glass. Yuck. Let’s hope they clean these after everyone touches them. Next PEPSI fountain drinks were the only soft drink option (a big no-no in the south). After referring to the TV and asking if football was on, I received a curt reply sharing he can’t change it. On the opening weekend of college football, sadly the food network and loud Italian music wasn’t what I was looking for.
The food: my BBQ chicken + banana peppers pizza was decent. I wished for more BBQ sauce on it as it was a little dry. My crust was cooked well and tasted good. Signs on every table telling customers dressings or marinara were extra seemed overly punishing to print a dozen signs for a dozen tables. The $15 for lunch including drink wasn’t bad and the leftovers will be great later today. So how pizzas are...
Read moreThis was my second time at ciao baby and probably my last time coming. The first time I came, the meatballs and parm pizza were amazing. The dough was a little soft and chewy so it’s different but it was still good. My husband and I came back a second time and this time my pizza was super watery and soggy to the point where it wasn’t edible. My husband asked them if they could do anything about it, and one of the employees, possible the owner, quickly got defensive and raised his voice at my husband saying that’s just how the pizza is and there’s a sign stating that. The sign says the pizza is soft and chewy which I get that, but my pizza this time was watery… he did put it back in the oven but it was still extremely watery to the point where you can soak up the water with a paper towel. The meatballs are really good, but i hate when businesses don’t appreciate their customers who are supporting and recommending their business. There was a better way to handle the situation vs causing a scene…. We aren’t the type to typically ever say anything but the pizza was truly not edible. Pictured is the park pizza I got the first time and the parm pizza I got this time where you can clearly tell...
