Server didn't really seem familiar with the menu. A lot of checking on menu items which is fine but just took time. Some game was on and he spent most of the time watching it and talking to other customers about the game play. At each turn we had to beckon him to come over - refill, chopsticks, to-go box, check, credit card, etc. Had to drink my daughter's water after the first refill because it was hard to get his attention. I gave him the full 15% tip ($10+) but honestly didn't feel good about it. Cost of the food is above average. Most dishes were pushing $20. So for 3 dishes and an appetizer (no drinks) we were at about $85 after tax and tip. Decor was very nice. Piano inside too which means they must have entertainment at night. When I asked for the password the server said it ended in "4444" - eeeee, really? That sounded so odd for a Chinese place as 4 is usually a taboo number because it sounds like the word death (si). Turned out to be "8888" (8 is a lucky number). Lol. When we got our chopsticks two of the three holders only had one stick in it. How weird. And a bit disconcerting as it made me think maybe they reuse these things. On to the food: Dumplings (off the to go menu): Tasted good. But I would not eat the garnishings which looked old. White rice: ok it's just rice but some places butcher it. Tasted fine. Boiled fish filet in chili oil (#19): probably the best dish we had. Looked impressive but actually on the bottom is all cabbage and not fish. Diced chicken with red pepper Szechuan style (#33): Lighter on the Chinese numbing peppercorn than most places I've had a similar dish at. The chicken they use seems to be of better quality. Juicier and no bones. Also the peppers seemed fresh. Pork with preserved vegetables (#58): did not look at all like the picture which looked like a knuckle. Came sliced. A couple of pieces were super duper tough and chewy like I imagine the the sole of my shoe would taste. At those prices I don't think we'll be back. Or maybe we'd just do take out as I think they give a discount rather than me having to pay someone to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreBeen here once a long time ago and wasn't impressed. Decided to give it another go. Surprisingly . . . More disappointed than before. Ordered through Uber Eats at about 615, and the order was available for pick up by the driver at around 740. He and I were texting, and he said there were people arguing and complaining about their orders and why they were taking so long. I can chalk up the wait time to it being delivery. I had hoped the food would be good. Without being dramatic, it was atrocious. The hibachi chicken was drowning in some unknown sauce, and oozing out of the box and all over the bag and other food items. Vegetables and rice were bland, and the chicken had a weird almost gummy texture to it, didn't taste like white OR dark meat. Got two sushi rolls that were just gummy and overcooked and overstuffed with rice. Very, very little in the way of actual substantive filling. The salad might have been good if it was served with the right dressing. Clearly someone grabbed the mustard hibachi sauce instead of whatever goes with it. That was a shock to the senses when we took a bite. Crab wontons were flavorless, and didn't taste like crab or cream cheese even. The ONLY redeeming item for the meal was the crispy wonton things they serve with the soup.
If you like this place's food, then wow. If you want good sushi, go to Sakura. If you want hibachi, go to Stix. If you want Chinese type food, go to Panda Express or even China Spring. Just really, really poor food experience, and I wish I could get my money back. At least Mulan Bistro will never get it again. Uber Eats, if you want to save yourself complaints, take this place off your...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAbsolutely horrible experience. I had to wait for 2 hours for our food. The restruant had NO TABLES. Aside from us, there was only 1 other table. Then the table who came in after us got their food first, but they only got it after complaining and threatening to leave. Then when we asked whete our food was, the female owner had a HORRIBLE ATTITUDE. She literally said that we're just this slow. She was then liek why are you guys so impatient when your eating out. Like that is no way to speak to customers. I think we have been very patient after 2 hours. Throughout these 2 hours. They constantly had meals coming out for their togos. But nothing for dinein. So we asked to cancelled all the food we ordered and we were leaving AFTER TWO HOURS. Within 2 minutes of that, our food was somehow ready and out. By this point we had to leave as people in our group had other things to do and places to be. So we took our stuff togo. Then the lady had the audacity to asked for tips. She followed us around the restaurant asking. We tipped the younger server privately who brought us water and refilled our water, as he was the only one who did ANYTHING FOR OUR TABLE. but then the owner and the lady working in the front really had the audacity to ask for more. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. DO NTO RECOMMEND. Additionally, the food tastes like hot oil. After 2 hours of "working on my food" I expected just normal restaurant quality but the dishes have no actual taste and just taste like they dumped some hot oil in it and stirred it around. The entire thing is so oily that the oil dripped through the bottom of...
