Silver Dollar, Gift Shop, Café and Saloon is a unique uh…. place. It is spacious, occupying at least two old buildings on main street. The décor is pine wood furniture, authentic metal ceiling tin, country store shelving and displays, decorated with pawn shop / thrift store paraphernalia. A food hall, a bar, a recreation area, maybe a dance hall, and what they refer to as a gift shop. Details. Frist of all I didn’t see a single silver dollar. I have been in silver dollar bars before, so I expected to see the walls lined with the old coins. Where are they? Next the saloon. A sectioned off area in the back. A real bar! There is a big selection of beers on tap and all the liquors necessary to make any drink you can come up with. It looks like a comfortable place to drown your sorrows. Gift shop? Not for the persnickety people I have to shop for. A kid with $10 could score some cool stuff though. Food. It is good. I asked our nice server Sydney, “How’s the chili?” The answer “I like it!” Fair enough. Open face chili burger with cheese, onions, mustard and jalapenos for me. My wife picked the salad with crispy chicken. The salad was fresh and excellent. Check the pictures. The chili, yes sir! Silver Dollar makes good TexMex style chili. It was covering an enormous chunk of hamburger. Half pound probably. With the mustard, onions, cheese and jalapenos on a toasted burger bun, it was just right! The French fries were fresh cut, not crispy, not that great. Order a different side. The chili alone could...
Read moreI wouldn't have even given one star but Google makes you do at least that. We were here last night and everything about it was terrible. Now I usually am very understanding when it comes to waitresses since I used to wait tables years ago, but DAMN! My family and I arrived earlier than the rest of our party which consisted of 20 people and we ordered first after the rest of our party arrived..we were served last and several minutes after the rest of our table was served. My drink was watered down for 90% of my meal. The food..oh the food..was awful! My husband got the large chicken fried steak and it tasted like funnel cake, the meat had NO seasoning whatsoever and his roll was cold like they just pulled it out of the fridge. I got the fried chicken strips with mashed potatoes and NO Gravy but they smothered my potatoes in Gravy. The chicken was over breaded to the point that the inside was soggy, the potatoes were boxed potatoes and the gravy was packet gravy. It feels more like a BAR trying to be a restaurant, people actually go there just to drink and rub up on each other while children are sitting a few feet away. Sick! The "Gift Shop" is a joke, nothing worth buying and they have the junk hanging all over the walls. This place could be SO Much more but is obviously owned by people who don't know what the hell they're doing. Don't waste your time eating here..microwave dinners at home would...
Read moreService was slow and poor. Waited to long for drinks and silverware, my silverware and napkins didn’t come till after my meal was served. The ham was over cooked on the sandwiches, missing/incorrect sides, cold sides. Chicken fried steak was good! Addressed this situation to managers, just as a “hey, we are from out of town here were a few issues, you should know about.” I went to the front counter at a tacky retail stand with dream catchers and lightbulbs to be greeted by a man who was in his 70’s at least. To him, trying to intimidate a customer with pride as big as they come. He had assuredly never had “any complaints!” I asked for an itemized receipt as he snatched my debit card from my hand. I demanded at this point for an itemized receipt once again since he had my card at this point- or for my card back and he nearly refused. He was wildly inappropriate, unprofessional and a much disappointment. A man of his age should never act so in the presence of a...
