I grew up in this is my first job I'm not going to date myself who's back in the 80s always been a good restaurant here in town always did remodeling there too. Back in the day I made donuts there that one night my dough fell when the wind and the rain came 1 in the morning my sister came to help me before it was over with she backed herself into a fan, Donuts when flying everywhere, the ceiling the walls and door!! And after it was all over with we had Donuts as big as dinner plates Long John's about two and a half feet long, apple fritters looks like something you could climb on LOL. I almost forgot an important part the dough that had Fallen was too big for the dumpster so we put in the back of my parents van and from 1 till 5 we had to go Beat It Down to be lower than the back windows! I believe one of the officers hey by and see my sister and I be eating something in the back of van hmm. They close up did spotlight looked it us and started laughing. He asked what in the world was going on and so we told him con him into not to tell our parents LOL sugar everywhere, glaze everywhere, the donuts look like they had Miracle Grow on them they were so big 🤦🤣I had to be out by 5 running the delivery . I found a dumpster at Marsh truck stop in South Haven to unload all that yeast in the back of the van it was big black garbage can bags full !!! You can only imagine we sold out record timing before I got back to the restaurant they were gone; as well as the stores I had to deliver them to gone before I got back to the restaurant. It was called Larry's roasted chicken back then. Now every time I walk in there I kind of laugh thinking if they're still donut stains on the ceiling haha. If you got a kick out of this let me know. That was just one night in my Adventures of making Donuts there back in the...
Read moreStop by this small little local restaurant. Service was fantastic and they were busy. If you leave this restaurant hungry it is your own fault. Portions are large. Every plate that went by were piled high with food. The prices were very reasonable.
The steak and eggs were cooked perfectly. Kudos to the cook for cooking a perfect medium rare steak. Although my husband asked for steak sauce, not one time did he use it because the steak was seasoned perfectly, tender and juicy. He only wanted to ruin a beautiful piece of meat with his teeth. That he did.
The heuvos rancheros was good but the corn tortillas were over fried too dark and crispy. The chorizo tasted a little weird. Definitely not my favorite. I felt like I was eating chorizo tostados or chalupas. I was disappointed even though it did taste fairly good overall. But I will probably try something different next time.
Don't let the huevos rancheros turn you away, it just wasn't the flavors I expected and there are a lot of chorizo that taste different than others. But you have to try their steak and eggs. I wanted to try their blueberries and cheesecake stuffed french toast. Will do it next time.
So please don't miss this little gem. Our server was fantastic and did a wonderful job even though they were very busy. Kudos to the entire team at Hot Spot for all their hard work. The team truly shined in this little restaurant and you could tell they cared about their customers. Thanks for making our Sunday breakfast...
Read moreOh my my my, my dear friend Dale told me I had to try the HotSpot. The only problem is that he's been telling me for way too long and I have missed it and missed it until today. Today I throw out into the world a proclamation that I have finally had the very best eggs benedict around these parts as a result of visiting the HotSpot. The choices were numerous not to mention a special that I really wish I had gotten which was their Spanish omelette. I've always loved the Spanish omelette but this eggs benedict Was So Perfect smoky flavored ham and not too much of it like some people will try to throw a bunch of ham at you like that will make a difference, and the basted egg and beautiful hollandaise sauce was so tasty I could go on and on. The American fries were crispy and perfectly prepared. What a beautiful plate. I kick myself for not having taken a picture but I will be back and I will take some pictures. Those waitresses are so easy on the blinkers and maybe they'll let me squeak in a photograph of them for the review. I can't say enough good stuff about this place and highly recommend it to anyone who really likes delicious food. And the price was completely Fair, which I cannot say about every place around here lately since covid seems like people are taking advantage. Not the HotSpot so everyone needs to stop and enjoy the wonders of this...
