This place is pretty good; it's my go-to spot for donuts in Colorado Springs although I wouldn't consider myself to be a donut connoisseur so there are probably better donuts somewhere in the city. I had Voodoo Doughnut in Denver and I thought they were a little bit better, but I wouldn't drive all the way up there just for some donuts.
I've heard a few people tell me they like Amy's Donuts better so I would give them a shot as well if you're really into donuts. I only had them once at the original Fountain location and wasn't impressed. Hurts has a larger selection of donuts, a larger and nicer store, and in my opinion better tasting donuts.
There are four main types of donuts you can get here: the regular, chocolate cake, birthday cake, and red velvet. I like red velvet if it is done right, but it is my least favorite type of donut here because the 2 or 3 times I have gotten a red velvet donut at Hurts it is always really dry. Also take note that if you buy a donut with Oreo cookie chunks on it, they come out really dry too (I'm guessing they put them on before putting the donuts in the oven). I'm a huge Oreo fan, but they don't taste that great on these donuts.
My absolute favorite item here is the vanilla birthday cake. I have gotten that and the Little Timmy a bunch and it always comes out really good. They're basically the same thing with different toppings.
The regular donuts are decent, but they don't really stand out from any other donut place. My favorite regular donut is probably the Homer.
The chocolate cake donuts are pretty good, but it is a toss-up on if you are going to get a really good one or somewhat...
Read moreI had such an amazing experience at Hurts Donuts, and it’s all thanks to Eden! From the moment I walked in, she greeted me with such a warm and genuine smile that instantly made me feel welcome. She was so patient while I browsed the selection (which was honestly overwhelming in the best way because everything looked incredible), and she took the time to walk me through some of the most popular donuts as well as a few of her personal favorites. You could tell she really cared about helping me get exactly what I wanted, and that kind of attention to detail makes all the difference.
Not only was Eden super helpful, but she also had such a cool, laid-back vibe that made the whole interaction fun and memorable. She chatted with me like we’d known each other forever, and it didn’t feel rushed or forced at all. You can tell she genuinely enjoys her job and cares about the people she’s helping. That kind of energy makes a business stand out, and honestly, it’s the reason I’ll be coming back to this location again and again.
On top of that, she was quick and efficient, making sure everything was packaged perfectly and double-checking my order before handing it over. It was such a simple gesture, but it showed how much pride she takes in doing things right. Great service, great attitude, and amazing donuts—what more could you ask for?
If you’re stopping by Hurts Donuts, I highly recommend visiting this location and hoping Eden is there to help you out. She really takes customer service to another level and makes grabbing donuts feel like a special occasion. People like her are what make...
Read moreOkay... here's the scoop. This place does have some great doughnuts. Now if anyone has been to Amy's Doughnuts then here's a bit more info to compare the two. Similar to Amy's? Somewhat. Hurt's does have some exotic styles of doughnuts however Amy's has a more abundant variety to choose from. Size? Hurt's takes the crown on this one. These doughnuts are huge! At Amy's doughnuts I could easily take down 3 or 4 doughnuts. At Hurt's I'll be working to get 2 down. I'm not a nibbler either. I can eat. Price? Alright... while this wasn't a deal breaker for me, it would definitely cause me to steer towards Amy's instead of Hurt's. $20+ dollars per dozen at Hurt's(not sure if that's why it's called that or not) while at Amy's their doughnuts fall under $20 per dozen. At the same time, I'll remind you that I stated the doughnuts were larger at Hurt's so when viewed from that perspective the cost is equal. It boils down to if you feel like spending over 30 dollars that day for a dozen. I did run into a scenario where what I requested had been slightly misunderstood. I returned to the store and they exchanged it with the correct request. So customer service, good. Overall, still a great place so I wouldn't check it...
