DO NOT GO TO MOUNTAIN MIKE’S PIZZA LUNCH BUFFET!!
Up Front Summary for those not wanting to read a longer review:
Very poor selection of pizzas offered on the buffet
Pizzas were left on the buffet for over 1hr 10 min (some of the pizzas were there when we arrived and still there when we left 70 min later)
Extremely rude service (or rather lack thereof)
Details: My family has enjoyed Mountain Mike’s Pizza a multiple times over the last few months. We live in Flying Horse and their restaurant is located about six minutes from our house, plus we thought their pizzas had been a good value (the amount we pay for the quality of product we receive).
Today I took my son on a lunch date to try out the Mountain Mike’s Pizza lunch buffet. I had just recently learned of the lunch buffet’s existence, and probably hadn’t been to a pizza buffet since “back in the day” at Pizza Hut. I have fond memories of enjoying those great buffets with my parents, so I was looking forward to sharing a similar experience with my son.
Unfortunately…a pleasant experience did not occur.
The MMP female employee who was in charge of the restaurant during our visit this afternoon, seemed to make it her personal mission to ruin our experience.
I’m not sure if “Heather” (well, that is the name on my receipt) was just having a bad day, or if she is just genuinely an unpleasant person. From our initial interaction arriving and paying for our buffets, through the multiple conversations I had with her about issues with the buffet…she was simply rude and unpleasant.
During my last interaction with her I said “Have I done something wrong that has upset you? Because you are being quite rude to me.” She did not address my concern with any reply and just walked away into the kitchen.
In the photo I have provided, you can see a few slices of pineapple pizza on the left pizza plate, the majority of some kind of a vegetarian specialty pizza in the middle, and a few slices of a pepperoni pizza on the right. The pineapple and vegetarian pizzas were obviously not desired since they sat uneaten for over an hour.
When I requested for some other pizzas to be made, I was told (by “Heather”) that until those were eaten, no new pizzas would be made. When I asked her “If nobody ever eats them, then how am I supposed to get different pizzas to eat?”, she replied “You can purchase any pizza you want to eat.”
I explained to her that I had already made a purchase…that of the buffet, and that I should be getting the opportunity to eat fresh and different pizzas. She disagreed.
Summary: My family has enjoyed their pizzas in the past. However, now that I have had an incredibly negative experience with them…it looks like it will be only Walters 303 pizzas from here...
Read moreIf you've ever been up I-70 towards Georgetown you may know of a certain, mythical pizza place that bills their pies as "Colorado" style.
It's kind of an institution if you've ever spent any time wishing you weren't stuck in traffic while looking forward to doing it all again as soon as possible.
There used to be more locations sprinkled about the state but it seems like most of them have closed, at some point, leaving most of Colorado without "Colorado" pizza.
Now, I don't know if Mike is a mountain, or a man in the mountains, or maybe he has a mountain and is known for being the guy who has a mountain... and likes pizza or something...
Whoever he is, it seems he had a problem with most of Colorado being without proper Mountain pizza, so he took his Mountain Mike's Mountain and did some Mountain Pizza Wizardry on it and the whole mountain turned into cheese and toppings, and because there were so many toppings (like from a whole mountain) he instructed all his Mountain Mike Pizza Wizard Pupils to just dump toppings on their pizza until they were falling off, making more mini-mountains of toppings on every pie like an infinite mountain toppings glitch.
Seriously though, if they are counting pepperoni here it really is magic because there's just piles of it everywhere all curled up and crispy, so many you don't even have to look at all the pieces to pick which one - it's just everywhere.
Staff is awesome, seating is plentiful, and there is an interesting medley of games and activities, seemingly randomly chosen, and lined up one right next to the other on one wall. I don't think any kids are going to be abandoning fortnite for this wall of lights and campy prizes, but it does give it a LITTLE BIT of a Golden Age of pizza parlors vibe.
Best pizza 'round these parts. Heavy too, feed ya for days

Read moreI've been in Colorado for over 6 years now and I've spent a lot of time looking for a pizza that measured up to what I had left behind in California. (I'm a pizza snob) And then last weekend we were driving down the highway towards the restaurant we wanted to try for lunch and my sister-in-law spotted a sign saying Mountain Mike's Pizza! Could it really be that pizza we had left behind in Calif?? We ate our lunch and decided to swing by MMP to take a look, and we ended up buying two large pizzas to sample.
I couldn't wait and opened the box the second I was buckled into the car. That delicious smell hit my nose instantly. The familiar sight of a pizza loaded with toppings made my saliva start to run, and even though I had just eaten lunch I had to try a piece right then.
Pure nirvana! Exactly as I remembered!
If you are looking for a pizza with a great crust that's loading with toppings, you can't beat Mountain Mike's! They also have a fantastic weekday lunch buffet with a well stocked salad bar, and all the pizza you can eat for a reasonable price!
Seriously, try them out before everyone finds them and they get...
