$1.25 to get jalapeno for the sandwich, but NO PLACE on the menu is a price listed and the counter person said nothing about it before charging me the extra cost.
On swiping my card, the counter person flipped the screen toward me. While I expected an order summary and to touch the screen to authorize the charge for my order, I was presented with a tip demand screen. There were 3 options for a pre-figured tip. I selected other, and was offered a manual entry screen and the option for no tip. Since I ordered, paid, and would walk away with my order, there was no work by the counter person beyond pushing 10 buttons, so I did not feel a need to reward their efforts beyond their $20 per hour wage.
The counter person had a change of face when they saw I left them no tip. They handed me my receipt. I saw a charge for the sandwich and a separate charge for the jalapeno. In searching the menu board, I could see numerous add-on options, but no additional charge for the jalapenos or anything else.
I turned and asked the counter person where the price for the addition of jalapeno was posted on the menu board.
The counter person said there was no additional charge posted on the board. They went on to inform me the surcharge was a corporate choice, and asked if I would like to speak with the manager? I thanked the counter person for his offer and asked for the opportunity.
The manager, as well, said corporate made the choice, but would I like a chocolate chip cookie for no extra charge? I replied that I would like my money back, as I did not want a cookie, a bag of chips or a beverage, simply my sandwich, packaged to go.
He stated he could not give me money back, but how about both chips and a cookie? I accepted my fate, accepted the cookie and bag of chips, then opened the bag of chips, put the cookie in and dropped them in the trash.
There must be some law that keeps such charges from being applied without notification of the charge being added on.
Unfortunately, I can not satisfy my Schlotzsky's craving anywhere in California, and this is on a path I travel with some regularity. Hopefully, enough other people are up in arms about such a problem that we might...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreUPDATE: So I finally get back over there to get my food. I asked the lady at the counter JENNA was my order ready she gave me a smug look and said it was ready right after you left. LOL That's not the point. The order should have been ready before I got there. So not only do you provide terrible service you people are rude as well?? Once again stay away from this place. Adding injury to insult my lettuce is wilted and my sandwich is colder than the hostesses heart.
ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?! I work next door to this establishment. I order online so that I can walk less than 3 seconds and pick up my order. LITERALLY I get there and wait at the counter to not even be acknowledged until 15 minutes after me standing there. I finally get someone's attention at the counter clearly dedicated for, TO GO ORDERS. I tell her I am picking up an online order. She walks to back and of course NOTHING IS READY. Here we are 30 minutes after the expected "ready" time, I spent my entire lunch waiting for my food and I had to return next door with nothing. I watched people walk in order and sit down to eat while I stupidly stood at the counter waiting on a salad and half a sandwich. SOOOOO quick to take my payment online but slow to give me my food. Thanks for ruining my entire lunch period now I'm in my office starving and I can't come down again for another 2 hours to get my food which I am sure still will not be ready....
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI spent my entire lunch on driving here and get back to work to find I have the incorrect sandwich so I call and let them know and was told that they would put my name on a list and the sandwich was on them the next time I came in. Fast forward a few weeks and I call in to place an order and let the gentleman know that I was supposed to be given a free sandwich so he places me on hold and a woman (Kayla?) gets on the phone and asks me if I have a coupon when I explained the whole situation with her, she started to get attitude with me and told me there is no list and they would send me a coupon? So what is the difference between honoring what you told me a few weeks ago and sending me a coupon? I paid for an order, you messed it up, and now you are not going to honor it? She asked if I had a receipt, well I wasn't told to keep it so I don't exactly keep receipts for restaurants for weeks on end. I told her well if you cant honor what was told you can go ahead and cancel the order and her response to me was "OK, we will cancel your order" The thing that is funny is she was the supervisor I originally talked to and told me that they would put me on a list for a free sandwich since she is the "only" female supervisor. Good customer service here. I strongly recommend that you check your food prior to leaving the building because if not they wont stand...
