Sushi Ai — Restaurant in Colorado Springs

2/14/25 Update: Valentine's dinner was unfortunately ruined, because while they got my wife's sushi order right (even bringing it to her in a cute sushi boat), they completely disregarded my own food order. After my wife finished her meal and there was no sign of mine, I told them to just forget it. (And as usual our bill was wrong and I had to have them fix it.) By this point we had waited over an hour.

I really do want to keep coming here. But what can I do to get them to not screw up our order?

-- This is a charming little spot and in most respects it's what a Japanese restaurant should be: intimate, warm, and without gimmicks.

GOOD: Food, atmosphere. The sushi here is almost always nice.

MEH: It all falls apart when they get busy. Don't come here on a weekend or holiday unless you are exceedingly patient.

My wife and I adore this place and we'll keep coming back. But I must tell you that they have screwed up our food order or our bill almost every single time...

My favorite sushi spot in all of Colorado! I have been coming here for several years and have always had the freshest sushi and amazing customer service. Everything is well thought out from the portions to the placement and decoration of the food on the dishes. Everyone is so nice and friendly. Now sometimes the food may take a bit, but only because there are so many orders! Which is a great sign! I can tell all the employees and cooks are working hard and taking their time to guarantee customer satisfaction. If you look at the sushi chefs, they make sure each roll is perfect. They are not stingy on the portions, so the wait at times is definitely worth it. I highly, highly, highly recommend this place. I now live in Denver, but I make sure to stop by here every time I come down to Colorado Springs. I even love introducing my friends to this hot...

I had pretty terrible service at this place today and I’ll never go here again. Now, the sushi itself was very good, but the shrimp bowl my daughter ordered was awful. The shrimp was over cooked and chewy and the rice was DRENCHED in sauce. It was puffed at the bottom of the bowl. Our server was as nice as she had to be, put no extra effort in. She’d make a comment to us as she walked by not giving us the opportunity to ask for anything. Our drinks were never refilled and two groups who arrived after us got better service than we did, even their checks before us as we waited with our plates stacked to show we were finished. This restaurant is small, so she walked by us many times, it’s not like she didn’t notice. We were sitting in the MIDDLE of the room! My daughter was so disappointed and I’ll never come to this...
