I'm giving 3 stars because the food is good (really good)... but only 3 because they don't seem to care to get their takeout orders correct.
The food at this place is great... Just make sure you eat in the restaurant. If you decide to attempt take-out, be sure to check your order VERY closely... The last time we got take-out, they forgot to include the extra side of bacon we paid for. We called them and drove back to get it... We decided to give them a shot again today (the day BEFORE Mother's Day, since ordering on Mother's Day of last year was not a smooth process...) and our kid's waffle order contained one half of a dry, cold waffle with one piece of bacon (they forgot to give us the included whipped cream and strawberries, and it was so cold I couldn't even get butter to melt on it at home), did not give us syrup with the kid's french toast, and did not give us any straws for the kids' drinks... These might sound like petty complaints, but when you pay $80 for 2 adult meals, 2 kids meals, and 2 drinks, I think you should get everything that's listed with that meal on the menu.
I called them as soon as we got home and had to leave a voicemail (no one answered so it went to voicemail). I explained what happened, saying I was hoping to prevent other orders today from missing things by bringing this to their attention. I also left my name and phone number, in case they wanted to follow up with me about this, and no one has called us back. Even just offering a coupon for a future order would've been a nice gesture. But no follow-up makes it feel like they aren't too worried about getting their take-out orders correct.
Again, we'll possibly eat here in the future if we go in to the restaurant, because the food is good, but then again, we'll likely just go to one of the other local breakfast restaurants around town at this point, since this Urban Egg doesn't seem to value their take-out customers (we live only a few minutes away so it's easier to do take-out for breakfast than having a long wait at the restaurant with...
Read moreWe arrived to a "wait" seeing that multiple tables and booths were open. I get it, maybe understaffed or something. Not a huge deal. We were seated within 10 minutes to the exact booth that set empty when we walked in. From there it got much more disappointing. We ordered, the wife had a cappuccino that was fantastic. This is where our story should have ended. Unfortunately we then ordered breakfast and it went down hill quickly. I received chicken sausage. Suprising to me, it had some sort of mystery ingredient in it, maybe cut up apple or something along with a spice that taste like licorice, anise I'm guessing. After taking a small bite, I decided it wasn't for me so I waited about 6 minutes for the waiter to come back. I explained it to him and asked him if he could bring me turkey sausage to swap it out. He stated yes no problem. He brought me three or four pieces of "turkey bacon" out shortly. Wasn't sure if this was a joke or what but to say this was "turkey jerky" would be a much more accurate statement. Cold and tough as can be. At this point obviously the rest of my meal was ice cold. It was easy to see that the waiter was tied up with a "friend" at the bar as that is who he was talking to the majority of the time I was waiting for him. Aside from that he was shooting the breeze with the manager, whom also walked right by our table but didn't take the time to stop by and ask how things were. Furthermore, the eggs, not only cold, they were tasteless. The hash browns, aside from being cold, were pretty good. The toast and jam was the best part.
The ticket came after waiting another 8 minutes after our completion. I noticed another charge on the ticket for "vanilla syrup" that they brought out with my wife's cappuccino. She didn't request that so why were we charged for it? Honestly this was just a complete waste of $35.76...

Wait times - Yup it's a busy restaurant we waited 30 mins in our vehicle on a Saturday Morning - whoop d doo - it's busy
Staff - Our server (we think was named Lisa, if we biffed sorry but you should remember us after reading through - SHE WAS AWESOME!!!!!! - Coffee and Unsweet Tea Couple who you patiently courteously and friendly served us ever so kindly
The Food - Breakfast Burrito with both Green and Red Sauce - Great Suggestion - Great Choice - Great Presentation - Great Taste / Avocado Toast - As described above for Burrito
The Atmosphere - Busy but we never once felt rushed and it was pleasant
Price - Absolutely on point for quality and taste. 3% Gratuity - Who cares? Have you bought an egg lately? This economy started during the happy lets get it all free days and guess what, it actually costs someone money.... so pay attention to what you think is or should be free in the United States and when you ask for free be prepared to pay for it at some point because nothing is free. It is getting more expensive because we want the best, expect the best and get this, we have to pay for the best.
Being a business owner I have also raised my rates because everything I buy up front costs more now too so I understand.
Also, Comparing this restaurant to McDonalds is Hilarious - A happy meal used to be $2. Let that sink in.
Now to all you who bared with me this far - this restaurant is a great choice for breakfast and that is exactly why on a Saturday morning it is busy, the crowd is in line and the people come to it. If you do not like it then please spend your hard earned money getting less than stellar food elsewhere and keep your negativity away from all the positive people who just want a great...
