Big Mama’s is big on flavor.
It was our first official day in Colorado, it was Emily’s birthday weekend and she wanted breakfast burritos to start it off on a delicious note. After a few minutes, she found Big Mama’s Burritos and said that was our destination… so we all loaded up in Sammy’s car and headed that way. As we pulled up, I made a comment about how I saw it on our drive into town just 12 hours ago. In the dark, it looked rundown and closed. In the summer morning sunshine, it didn’t look much better but in we went.
On the wall across from you as you enter, they have a white board with their daily specials on it. The deal is a burrito for $5 with egg, potato, meat, cheese, and chile. The meat inside is what rotates daily and Saturday happened to be ham. I bought Emily and my burrito and it was only $10 and change. Not knowing the size of the burrito, we didn’t know if that was a good deal or not.
We waited in the small building while people kept pouring in and ordering food. While there is room to sit down and eat, there isn’t much space if there’s anyone else seated. I made the mental note that despite the look of the place, the amount of people coming and going was a lot. After about 10 minutes, all 4 of us had our burritos and we headed out to get coffee and continue the day.
We stopped at Subjective Coffee to get some caffeine and eat our haul. As we unrolled our burritos, you could tell it was filled to the brim. Emily and I dug in first since Sammy and Kero were still waiting for their coffees. The first bite was pure bliss and each bite after that only got better and better.
For $5, this may have been the best burrito I have ever had. Sure, I’ve had fancier ones and bigger ones but for just the price alone… this was the best thing ever. Emily, Sammy, and Kero thought the same and we were all delighted that despite the shady look of the place… we had some bomb burritos to start our day.
We stayed in Colorado for another 3 days and there wasn’t a day where I didn’t mention how I would be okay with going back for more. Even if the food was just so-so, the price alone made it worth it… not with just how expensive everything is getting but with how pricey Colorado can be.
Big Mama… whoever you are… you have a BIG fan in...
Read moreMy family had been a customer and Fan of Big Mama's Burritos for years. However the last time I tried to order from them was a total disaster. We walked inside Big Mamas to place our order for 3 daily $2 "Special Burritos" there was a guy working behind the counter and he seemed to understand the order. After about 15 minutes he had made the food and was ready to ring us up. Instead of of 3 of the Daily specials which should have been about $8 with tax He tried to charge $24. We asked what was going on? We discovered he made our order with meat and had the wrong order and was going to make us pay for his mistake. After trying to negotiate that he please remake the order without meat. He refused to remake our order and argued that we would just have to take and pay for what he made. We tried to reason with him as 2 people in our party do not even eat meat. He said he didn't care he would not remake the order. There wasn't even any other customers in the store. So he wasn't even working on anything else. We left very disappointed without food. I don't even understand how this happened as we were the only ones in the business so there was no other order to get messed up with ours and we did not order meat in the burritos. He just made a mistake and wouldn't fix it. I tried to call the other Big Mamas in the area to speak to a manager and still no apology no offer to remake the order NOTHING so if after years of patronage and some large orders for my company and school. Big Mamas does not care I about customer service or keeping long time customers. I don't have to go to Big Mama's as there are a lot of other Great Burrito businesses to choose from in this area. And everytime someone tries to order from them for school work or other big events or orders I advise them of my negative experience and we order from other...
Read moreI was just at this location January 31st 2018 6:30 a.m. I sat in the drive-through for over a 1/2 an hour without being helped pressed the doorbell several times still no help. I could see the cashier on the inside. I honked the car horn and she looked clearly at me but later when I finally called on the telephone she offered no apologies .. she finally came to the drive thru window and said "I didn't see you the window is tinted ....what you want". I have been to this establishment several times in the past few months about this same time in the morning and had absolutely wonderful service. I have even previously boasted about their service and the food, But after this cashiers snotty attitude I may Never go back! I asked the cashier for her name and she refused to provide it. I Definitely do plan on calling and speaking to who I was told was the manager Dana. I hope to receive much better treatment from her or I definitely will never be back. It really is sad that 1 cashiers extreemly rude attitude Is such a blight on an otherwise...
