This place seem like a scam to me. They offer 50% off. It it doesn’t seem that way. They wouldn’t give me an itemize check; just one with the final bills. The most expensive item I got was at most $25. So I got $25, $25, and a $20 roll. That $60 which is now $30 at 50%. (This is rounding up cuz roll was actually around $24) However, I was charge $42. They say they have a 15% mandatory tip so that is 4.50 so that $34.50 max but my total tab was still $42 which is way above the total. Then they add a tip option (which I add 15% cuz I don’t know if they include it but for $42 I think they did ) which make it around $48 ( 15% tip of $42 is $6.30 so that how I pay $48) no matter how you do the math; it just doesn’t add up to how I am paying $12 extra, still demanding tip, etc

Now the food was good but too much sauce. They just pour sauce on everything making it so hard to eat. I would ask for sauce on the side if you eat here.

Edit: I went in and talk to them. Total was $34 but they just add the 15% which is made it around $42 (they don’t tell you they just add it so very shady) if you tip above 15% they remove the mandatory tip but if not they add it (told to me by waitress) again to me this whole thing seem like a scam and I won’t eat here again. They don’t tell you they add the mandatory tip, don’t give you itemize bill (unless ask), and still ask for tips after adding the tip (this is the shady part). Not sure what happened with this place!? Went for dinner. Reservations only for tappan grill 😔 walk ins can only sit at sushi bar. Okay, cool... no worries. They offer full menu there too. My daughter is not a sushi fan. The sushi bar had lots of seats open but they were all filled with the prior guest dishes. Waited 5 mins as servers walked by is to clean up the mess. We had to ask them to do so. Then the server cleared the dishes and tried to seat us without wiping anything off. Really!? Needless to say, service sucked. It was interesting to watch behind the scenes.... the sushi rolls which were set out to be picked up by the servers sat for awhile, a long while. Behind the sushi counter everyone was hopping over a huge puddle of water on the floor because the drains were clogged. It was a mess behind the counter a mayonaise bottle sat behind the counter (see pic) the entire 1.5 hours we were there. Actually several cream bases dressings were sitting out. Some of the rolls tasted like pure mayonnaise because there was so much sauce. I could keep going on, but you get the point. This used to be the best around but I'm afraid it is being poorly ran and the employees need extensive training. My husband to the hostesses when we left that if they were not too consumed on there phones, to relay a message to the manager. I'm sure they blew him off and didn't relay...

For my mom’s BIRTHDAY I made a reservation for 6:45pm for 5 people. We were sat by 7pm and still had no chef by 8pm so we left without having our dinner. My kids were so hungry, the waitress offered white rice and the broth/onion soup to them while we waited. I ordered sushi to hold us over, it took a long time. They ate it but wanted the noodles they were expecting and we wanted the teppan dinner. We waited but my daughter started to cry, and it was approaching their bed time so we left at 8:15pm. At no point did a manger come by. The waitress was very friendly and was hurrying to help her tables that did have food but she also never addressed why we’re waiting so long. I had to ask twice, how much longer. She couldn’t answer. The other couple at our table were celebrating their anniversary. They said it was one they would never forget. There was even a chef making food that no one was sitting at, I don’t know if it was for to-go orders or what! I overheard someone say for a private party on the other side of the restaurant. Ridiculous!! Oh and I still paid...
