Casa Maria's Mexican Cantina — Restaurant in Columbia Township

I work for a delivery service. I arrived at the restaurant at about 8:19pm. I stood there for about 5 minutes without even being acknowledged before walking across the restaurant and letting a hostess know that I was there to pick up an order for said delivery service. The hostess said that “it’s still in the kitchen.” I said okay & proceeded to go walk back by the hostess stand on the other side of the restaurant. Another delivery service worker (who happens to be a white male) walks in 10 minutes later and was immediately greeted by said hostess. We both stood there for about 20 minutes. Said hostess brought him out the order he needed and handed it directly to him and wished him well. After he left I politely reminded the same hostess that I was still waiting on my order and instead of acknowledging what I said he just walked off without saying anything and started seating other guests that were waiting in the lobby. After seating one table she came and grabbed something off of the hostess stand behind me. Then went and seated some more guests and did the same thing. She went to the kitchen for whatever reason and when coming out she saw me becoming visibly upset by her rudeness and finally went back and grabbed the order I needed that was most likely already done and just sitting there waiting. She then brought the order and instead of bringing it directly to me (like she did the other guy) she sat it on a shelf (that is meant for picking up orders.) and said this is for “customers name.” I let her know that I was standing right here and that she could’ve handed it to me like she did the other person, but she went behind the hostess stand until I left out of the restaurant and then proceeded to go to the back of the restaurant. I went back in because I didn’t like the way I was treated and tried talking to the owner, Crystal, and she was just as rude as the staff she hired. Smh. I would definitely not recommend this place to my worst enemy let alone my family. Very rude and very unprofessional establishment.

What an awful experience! For my first time in this restaurant it was clear it needed to be my last. The chips and salsa was a mess of cold chips with half of them over cooked. On top of this the service was beyond lackluster, out of 3 people ordering all of us had to repeat our order multiple times and yet they still got my order wrong. When the food arrived the waiter disappeared, I had to wait over 15 minutes to return my wrongly made food and it was only by me waving them down they’d come by. By the time I took the first bite I could tell their key motivator was profit margins cause holy guacamole it was disgusting. The meat tasted like it was dipped in a grease trap for a couple of seconds then slapped on a plate. I can’t comprehend how a “new” restaurant in town taste 5x as bad as the competition of la siesta or El Jimadors. It seems like the answer is because they actually care, they aren’t unnecessarily flashy like this place. They spent so much on decorating the bathroom that they have screws loose on the bars and bathroom dividers. The combination of a terrible food quality and almost equally as bad service makes this place tolerable for one group, people drinking so much the food taste doesn’t matter. And when it can’t get much worse they charged my card twice and upon calling them they acted nonchalant, saying it’s a “normal occurrence”. No it’s not😂 I’ve never had an issue like this at ANY restaurant in Columbia, from McDonald’s to longhorn, to CC Broilers it’s not a “normal occurrence”. If I can leave you with one things it’s that you should let the food speak for itself, opinions differ of course so this is a good option if you hate yourself and want to make a call to your bank the following day. Take note that the 5 stars almost always include someone drinking or remarking about the drinks furthering my point above. TERRIBLE. Terrible atmosphere, terrible staff, and terrible service. Waiting to be seated with no line and multiple staff members looking at us and just walking by. Finally seated. Waiting for almost 20 minutes to even have a server come to our table but ask if we were ready to pay our ticket!!! Not even had someone come and ask our drinks!!! Huh??? Our server had been walking around us to other tables and refilling their drinks and serving orders when we finally got his attention. Waited at least another 10 minutes to receive our drinks and chips and salsa. Staff again refilling other tables, etc. Finally order and we had ate all our chips and salsa. We get our food and still no chips and salsa. My husband sat his empty glass beside him for the waiter to see and even came to our table and he did not get a refill or even the request for additional chips and salsa (oh and served it a very small dish, only one each) until we were basically finished with our food. The food by the way was lacking everything to be traditionally authentic Mexican and very disappointing. Plain. I love Mexican food and enthusiastically enjoy the whole experience of it. How sad. Very loud music. My husband and I couldn’t hear each other much less witnessed every staff member having to lean in on guests to hear what was being said. Poor construction model with paint smeared, woodwork was patched and not square with again paint smeared on half the trim and no sealant.
