RIPOFF ALERT: On 6/20/19 I ordered 4 Combination 10 dinners (2 tacos, beans and rice). I also ordered 4 extra orders of beans and 4 extra orders of rice. I knew from an order I placed to El Maguey 5 days earlier that the GRUBHUB driver should have 3 bags worth of food when he reached my home. The driver only had 1 bag. I said "There should be more food here." The driver said "That's all they gave me" and abruptly left. I opened the bag and there was only 1 Combination 10, 1 order of beans and 1 order of rice and one bag of chips and a container of salsa. This was only 1/4th of what I ordered and paid for. I sent an email to GRUBHUB and then called El Maguey. I explained what happened and then the guy on the phone said like some snotty teenager "Uh. OK." and hung up. He didn't ask me any questions or ask his employees if they had a pile of food left behind by the GRUBHUB driver or try to deal with this customer who just spent $76 on $15 worth of food.
I then received a phone call from someone at GRUBHUB's customer service department. She said she would refund the money for the food I didn't receive and refund the $10 I gave to their driver. Then I called El Maguey with the intention of asking a manager why someone in their office didn't deal with me when I called earlier and hung up on me. I got some guy on the phone whose command of English was so bad that I could only understand a few words. I asked him to let me speak to a manager. He said there was no manager there. I told him I found that hard to believe. Then he said the manager was on break. So I told him to tell the manager that I said thanks a million for what he was doing and that I was going to mention all of this when I wrote a review of El Maguey online.
I'll never order food from El Maguey again. There are other Mexican restaurants in Columbia that don't rip you off. They put a premium on customer service and make sure you have a good experience so you'll keep giving them your business. I don't know who was responsible for only giving me 1/4th of my order--the GRUBHUB driver or employees of El Maguey--but the way the people at El Maguey dealt with me--or, should I say, DIDN'T deal with me--when I tried to speak with them over the phone was enough to make me swear that I'd never give this place another cent. Read moreWent to El Maguay on Saturday June 7th, 2024. My friend and I go there to eat quite often but in the last 3or 4 months quality in food and service has taken a deep dip. Service is the worse, so rude and confrontational. I got the same waiter the last 4 times I’ve been there. I think they use him cause he speaks and understands English, he’s about the only one. We went in again and who comes towards us but him. I asked if I could sit on the bar side so hopefully wouldn’t get him as a waiter but no such luck. He told us the bar section was closed ( at 430 pm on Saturday), said they had reservation coming in. Our trip was shorter than usual due to the rudeness and the food truly was no good. I arrived at the time they said pick-up would be ready and found a bag waiting on a table at the entrance of the restaurant with my name on it. I brought that back home expecting it to be what I ordered. Once I got home I realized that I was missing one of the 2 orders. I drove the 10 minutes back to the restaurant and mention to the cashier that I was missing an order. He looked at the receipt and saw that they had made the mistake and ordered it again. After a wait, the food came out, but it was incorrect. I had to then wait again for the order to be recooked.
