Everything including customer service. I went at around 10:10 this evening to get a quick meal after hanging out with friends. I was going to give my business to the Mariemont McDonald's on Wooster Pike, but I ended up regretting it. I went to the speaker to say my order, and the very kind employee. Let me know that they're short-staffed and aren't taking orders except for doing the mobile app order. I completely understood that, and that is not my issue because I understand what short staffing is like. The problem was that I went to the window to put in my mobile app number thing, and the guy helping me was very nice except it looks like he was in a rush. So I took the receipt and I proceeded to the next window two seconds later. As I'm already past the window, I can hear him yelling at me. I get to the pick-up window and I see him coming back yelling at me through the window and flailing his hands. Then a couple of the employees that were there kept peeking through the window to see who I was, and I felt uneasy knowing that there's someone yelling at me and people are trying to find out who I am. I've been proceeding to pick up my food, and I ask what's going on. Did I do something wrong? Why is everyone yelling at me? The so-called manager on duty comes over screaming at me, asking what's the problem. I said, "Why are you screaming at me?" And he goes, "You snatched the receipt out of the window, and I didn't appreciate that." Which I did not, after looking at my dash cam footage. I politely take the receipt, and proceed. I then was going to try to clear the air with the manager, but he decides to shut the window in my face and say, "Have a good night." And they still continue to talk about me, which is definitely not OK. As a manager at a restaurant myself, it is not OK to be yelling at your customers because that is one of the worst-case scenarios as someone in management and is just not OK. So please proceed with caution. As a sidenote, when we got home to look at the food we ordered, we had a thing of fries missing from the order, and everything was thrown in the bag, so nothing was...
Read moreWeeks ago, I placed an order online via the app. (I thought I'd use it to spot any specials of any.) Well, 15 minutes later I pull up to the store and sat in the online order spot as employees were blowing there brains out with cigarettes out front by the entry door. I sat for at least 5 minutes as other cars were coming in and out of the parking lot as well. I couldn't see if they were at the drive thru or not due to where I was parked. After a few minutes they would pull off. I thought they got waited on. So, I pulled around a 2nd time. Cones were on 1 side of the drive thru and some employees seemed to be still smoking. (Hard day right?) What the app did not inform me was that this location was closed. A maintenance employee approached my vehicle to say they closed early, like, before 8. I was there before 9. Stunned, I pulled off and returned home and fixed myself something to eat. Moral of the story? The app failed to inform me they were closed. Instead, I left my he, wasted my time, my gas, and my money with no explanation or apology. (Sorry sir we had to close early because our lights went out or an employee fell on the french fries.) Nothing. Inexcusable.
P. S. A McDonald's representative did reach out to me eventually to say they were investigating this and that they were sorry, offering to send me a gift card but not...
Read moreOverall, it's a McDonald's. Food is as expected, and cleanliness is OK.
What is annoying is when they are not opened during the times both the internet and their postage signage states. I arrived at 6:08, and was told they were not open. When I asked the manager on duty (who grudgingly opened the drive thru window) what time they opened, all she would say is "were not open". Finally I got her to say she would be ready to open in 5 minutes.
Needless to say, this is by definition, NOT, fast food.
Now, I understand that many business claim that they can't find any help. I'd like to clarify something. The neat thing about the supply and demand curve of a resource (labor) is that it always holds true.
In other words, it's not that there's a lack of people willing to work at McDonalds; It's that the business is not willing to pay what it takes to attract employees. It's that simple.
If you can't staff your business, don't bother being in business.
I have been turned away multiple times at this McDonalds in recent weeks because of similar issues. (A couple of times the lobby was closed and the drive through open).
If you need to count an establishment being open for a meal, I suggest trying one of the local competitors, who you know will be there when you...
