I'm surprised by all of the high reviews. Here's what I experienced today: I'm planning a shower so I've been going to different places to start preparing. I take pictures of things that I like so when I get home I can review prices and put together a game plan. I walk in, and honestly asides from the glass case with some desserts, I would never think this place is a bakery. Not very inviting and seemed a little unclean. There aren't a lot of dessert options, but I was there mainly for the macarons (unfortunately not many places in town make them). The first thing i noticed was what the cookies were kept in- a stingy looking, dark plastic storage container that you buy at a crafts store. They had a good amount of flavor options with different prices, so I was taking pictures so I could remember later. The lady behind the counter comes around towards me and just stares at me, so I say hello and I can tell she's not happy. Long story short, she's not happy I'm taking pictures so I explain to her why I'm taking them (there's no sign that says "No Photography" and last I checked I stepped into a bakery, not the Pentagon). After her mumbling and complaining she finally tells me it's ok. So I take one more and then I start thinking of which ones I want to purchase so I can sample the flavors. Apparently the time I took also annoyed her because she kept complaining multiple times to me. Another customer comes in and the worker starts to complain to her about me in their native language. How did I know? Because she's looking at me, annoyed, and talks and talks then the customer turns to me and confusingly asks me what I'm doing. I explained to her, even though it's really none of her business. The lady behind the counter then starts complaining in English again and starts to say that a customer should just come in and purchase, not to take pictures that can be used. Used for what exactly, no idea. It's not like they're selling unusual items. I can Google how to make a pistachio macaron! Regardless, I remained calm and ordered 4 cookies to try. You would think that would shut her up, but she literally kept complaining while she's charging my credit card how I should just order and not just stand there. She's like the Soup Nazi! God forbid I have to stand there and think about what I want to order. Btw, I only took 3 pictures. Anyways, too bad the cookies weren't worth it. The flavors were actually really good, but the red velvet was so stale it literally crumbled when I took a bite and the other flavors I ordered were either somewhat stale or somewhat fresh. You can tell they won't made that day at all. They were prob made several days earlier and not stored very well. If you decide to go, don't expect much....especially when it comes to service. If she would've said from the beginning, "Please don't take pictures," then I would've respectfully stopped. Instead, even though and she was complaining, she literally told me it's ok! She was so rude to me, especially when she complained about me to another customer, that I will be taking my business elsewhere....
Read moreMy husband and I have been wanting to stop in to try their sweets for a while, but in said to say it was a big disappointment. We got 6 different things to try which amounted to $33, and nothing was fresh. My cheesecake(~3" in diameter) was $7 and the "crumble" was soggy. It tasted like week old store bought cake. The peanut butter mousse cake has a bitter flavor like dark chocolate and the cake portion was dry. I didn't care for it. The green tea cake was the better of the two with a light flavor, not overly sweet. The lemon bar was the best thing I tried from there and the only thing that tasted like it was made today or yesterday. The cinnamon roll is dried out and I didn't feel like trying it today. I doubt another day will make a difference. They had about 20 more in the case I'm sure they plan to serve tomorrow since it's already 640pm. My daughter didn't try her cake pop. With how mediocre/subpar the desserts were, I'm highly disappointed in the prices they charge and I'm also baffled by the 4.5 star rating. It's possible we came when they weren't doing their best, but I find it hard to believe they typically have fresh food. Our family won't be returning with how many duds we purchased tonight. I am left only with disappointment.

Read moreThe large beef noodle with the soy egg was delicious and big enough for two. Rich broth cradles hearty noodles, silky beef, and bright greens. Very flavorful. Jasmine tea with boba jelly had a grand bouquet of jasmine flavor. It has an intense perfume essence that I found delightful, however it was far too sweet. The egg custard tart sports the most flaky layers I’ve ever seen in a lard crust, magical. The custard itself was silky in texture, lightly vanilla scented, perfectly sweet and evenly baked. The coconut macaroons (some call these candies, “haystacks”) look, smell, feel, and taste EXACTLY like the ones my southern Alabama Grammy made for Easter every year. I bought TEN of them. Don’t judge me. Finally the Japanese soufflé cheesecake could be a little lighter, however; the lightly sweetened, neutral flavor of the cheese seems to beg for a coulis or fresh fruit. I still bought another piece to take home, don’t get it twisted. I have some homemade berry preserves that need a mate. Finally, I purchased the Lemon cake for my daughter. It is a beautiful and perfectly proportioned lemon layer cake. I hope she lets...
