I sat out on the deck to watch the Knicks game, and the outside seating is a great spot to watch the game with all the TVs. I had Lucas as my server, and first of all, let me tell you, Lucas provided fantastic service through and through. My cup was never empty and I felt that he confidently communicated the menu and specials. You can tell it wasn't his first rodeo, and a busy service is a bull he can handle! Kudos!
Lucas mentioned the scallop special, and despite sounding like something right up my ally, my heart ultimately led me to the Buttermilk Fried Pork Chop. I substituted my sides to Loaded Mashed Potatoes (Mixed Cheese, Crumbled Bacon, Freshly chopped Chives, Butter and Sour Cream),Onion Rings that came with a side of Southwest Ranch, and the Spinach Salad- which is a bright, harmonious little salad made up of spinach, bacon, feta cheese, red onions, pecans tossed in a Brown Sugar Vinaigrette that puts a pep right in your step.
The onion rings are the best in the South... Now, you might have read: "The onion rings are really, really good". I just wanna clarify while you're still reading this that the Onion Rings at Backstreets Grill are: The Best- In. The. South. You will call your Auntie Doris and tell her you've found a better recipe.... No cap, they slap!
And I haven't even gotten to the pork chop. The pork chop is the Bee's Knees. I'd go as far to say that it's the Cat's Pajamas. Just a gargantuan piece of perfectly fried pork covered in a peppercorn gravy that'd be certified in any town south of Charleston, West Virginia.
You thought I was finished? Well, initially, I admit I thought I was too. However, Lucas brought to my attention a little devil tucked away in the cooler known as the Peanut Butter Pie, and Sweet Baby Jesus, help me! That bad boy consists of an Oreo crust, peanut butter cream filling, and topped with whip cream and chocolate syrup. Yowza! KaBlam! I didn't realize this was a comic strip, but here we are coming up with words trying to summarize the glorious feeling that my taste buds experienced when I took that first bite. I will remember that bite for a long, long time.
Did I mention I brought my dog? Daphne enjoyed an unseasoned 6oz well done patty burger patty off the a la carte portion of the menu. (Talk about convenient!) The other server, Milly, even treated Daphne to a little pup cup! What a delightful staff all the way around! Thanks Milly!
Truly a 5 Star Experience. I will...
Read moreBackstreet Grill, located at 2400 Devine Street, Columbia, SC 29205, offers a warm and welcoming atmosphere from the moment you step through the doors. Over three days within a seven-day period, we had the opportunity to sample several items from their diverse menu, each leaving a lasting impression. On our first visit, we savored the Mandarin Chicken Salad and the Garden Salad with grilled chicken, enhanced by the unique addition of French dressing – a rarity in my dining experiences elsewhere. Additionally, we indulged in the hot wings, which were a delightful treat. Returning for a second day, we were pleased to find the Taco Salad generously portioned and bursting with freshness. The Meat Lover's Pizza didn't quite meet my expectations in terms of meatiness, but the flavor was there. However, it was on my third visit that Backstreet Grill truly shone. Indulging in the Lump Crab & Artichoke Dip with garlic pizza points, followed by a Caesar Salad w/grilled chicken, set the stage for the highlight of the meal: the Backstreet 8oz Filet Mignon accompanied by jumbo asparagus and mashed potatoes (which also came with a garden salad). Every element of this dish was executed to perfection, earning it a solid five-star rating. Overall, my experience at Backstreet Grill exceeded expectations, with standout dishes and attentive staff. Whether you're stopping by for lunch or dinner, this establishment is sure to impress. Highly recommended for both the delectable food and exceptional service, Backstreet Grill has earned its place as one of my go-to dining...
Read moreWe visited for the 1st time recently on a Friday. The place was packed so there was a bit of a wait. Cool, we had a drink and relaxed on the patio. After being seated we placed our orders- Caesar salads, Cajun chicken pasta and the chicken sandwich. The salads were ok..dressing tasted too much like mayo for me. The sandwich was great, but my pasta was extremely bland. I let the server (Alyssa) know and she was extremely apologetic. I didn’t really want to wait for a remake so I just asked for some Cajun seasoning and Parmesan cheese. Well that didn’t help. Darius, the manager, stopped by to check on us and immediately apologized and worked on getting it remade. Welllll the remake was soooo salty! I guess they said I wouldn’t be able to complain about it being bland. 😂 I knew I wasn’t going to eat it but I just kept it moving. They brought out a dessert on the house and were very apologetic, which I appreciated. I appreciated it so much that we went back the next day to give it another try. This time we ordered wings -honey sriracha and lemon pepper, grilled and fried, lump crab dip and the chicken fajita wrap w/ fries. The wings were good..would def order again, but the wrap was very small and didn’t have much much flavor to it. Dip was really good though. Overall, I’d rate 6/10. Service and atmosphere are great but the kitchen could...
