Earlier review: After a several month hiatus due to bad experiences, we tried Chris McD's again. Food was great, service was great, this place is back on our list of favorites! Not sure what's changed, but they definitely have it together again. The fish special was prepared perfectly and a steak from the menu was delicious. Appetizer, salads and dessert were also amazing!
9/29/19: I provided the above 5-star review several months ago. After visiting last night, I have to take it back. To be clear, the food remains very good, but the dining room service appears to be inconsistent at best. We received drinks, our appetizer and salads, although no bread, then the wheels fell off the wagon. We received only part of our dinners (missing side). For a birthday celebration, we ordered a bottle of wine, but the server informed us that he was only 19 and was looking for someone of age to serve it. He came again as we were finishing the food to tell us he was still looking and we cancelled the wine at that point and he took the food we didn't receive off the check. We were shown the dessert tray with no explanation of what they were. We gave up and went to Dairy Queen for sundaes. So, the food is great, if you get it, but be prepared for a less-than-ideal dining...
Read moreI went here to have a fine dining experience with my girlfriend and son on Valentine's day. Considering the price points of their dishes, I had high expectations. I ordered the veal osso bucco, as it is one of my favorite dishes. I don't know if this Chef thought he was putting his own spin on the dish, or if he was just drunk that night, but it was a sorry attempt at osso bucco. It wasn't really seasoned at all. It hadn't been dredged, or properly braised. It was mostly devoid of flavor aside from what I can only describe as a housemade 57 sauce that was drizzled on top. The bed of risotto that it rested wasn't much better. It more closely resembled A seasoned Kraft mac and cheese that had sat out too long than risotto. My girlfriend's and son's dishes were much better than mine, but still not deserving of their inflated price points. I've had better food at a third of the price time and time again. If I'm spending $360 for 2 adults and a child to eat dinner I expect excellence in every aspect of my dining experience. This place fell short by basically every metric. And this is coming from a guy that spent $200 for 4 ounces of wagyu carpaccio in Minnesota and would happily do it again. I would also point out that I was charged a 20% "large party" fee FOR 2 ADULTS...
Read moreIt’s between a 3 and 4 for me. Food was good, our steaks were cooked appropriately, however - the ambiance, environment, etc was like 1 star. It’s disappointing they don’t take reservations unless it’s a party of 6 or more. We had to wait 30 min for a table, which wasn’t a big deal, however, there’s not really anywhere to wait unless you want to sit at the bar. We were on a date night and were sat at the very back of the restaurant at a shortened table exactly across from the double swinging doors to the pretty loud kitchen. Servers in and out, dishes clanking the whole time. Drink service was also back there and that was loud. We unfortunately were seated up against a rather loud party, which is not the restaurants fault, but when added in with the very loud kitchen, well, it just wasn’t the atmosphere we were looking forward to. We waited a good hour for our food, thankfully we got a salad otherwise it would have been quite a wait. Bread would have been nice. I don’t know, we were just disappointed. We’ve always wanted to try it and don’t mind shelling out the $$$ for an excellent dining experience, however, this was not it. If they would take reservations AND reconfigure the inside (because no one should be seated directly across from the kitchen) we...
