I've been going to Shakespeare's Pizza for twenty years now. It used to be a lot more close to reasonably priced but now the prices are extremely high! I went there the other day with my parents and my kids and we ordered two large pizzas five sodas the total was barely under $100 they were very large pizzas and they were pretty good but I can't say it was even near worth the price. We could have gotten 12 pizzas and several 2L of soda at Little Caesars for that price. Also going to Shakespeare's West just doesn't seem authentic The original downtown Shakespeare's was the real deal and now that they've made other locations it's just a fake atmosphere to me because I grew up with the real deal. Original Shakespeare's used to have great drink specials you could get a pint of Sierra Nevada and a shot of Jameson for $3 plus tax it was a great deal. The service was okay-ish but the employees are absolutely overworked and underpaid. I think they got popular over the years and now I feel like they're just exploiting the popularity of their name to overcharge tons of people because a lot of them go there for the nostalgic value. Overall I would say it's not worth it. But at the same time I'll probably eat there again at some point but I'll definitely feel ripped off that time...
Read moreTrip to the Ozarks and a long way from home. Stopped in here because Trumans next door is not handicapped accessible. So glad we did. Walking in the atmosphere is laid back and calming. Ordered two normal and one gluten free pizza. Took about 20 minutes even though they said 25 so that was nice. A self service restaurant but everything is easy to find. Rags instead of paper napkins is a great idea, and the classic cups are yours to keep. Pizzas are thick and the toppings are plentiful. Pepperoni is thickly sliced and delicious as well as is the sausage. Here is the kicker and what guarantees a five star review. The gluten free crust was under cooked a little but they gladly took it back and apologized. About 5 minutes pass and they bring it back in good shape but missing a couple of pieces. Not a big deal but they insisted on making another one even though I told them not to worry. They bring it out when we are ready to leave and it is perfect. Peter and his crew at this location make you feel at home and not rushed at all. Would and...
Read moreThis was our first visit to this location and second visit overall to Shakespeare's Pizza.
I live in KC and have heard of Shakespeare's from MU grad friends. When my son and I travel to St Louis for taekwondo tournaments, Columbia is a well positioned stopping place. We've been dine in guests for Friday night dinner twice. The place was quite busy, but we were able to find seats without too much trouble. The wait was about 30 minutes each time. Not great, but not bad for the busiest time of the week. The pizza itself is good. It's not my favorite (sauce is a bit sweet and there's a lack of crust how they make it), but is still much better than any chain pizza. The vibe of the place is great and the staff is friendly and helpful. The inclusion of both Coke and Pepsi products is neat and something seldom seen. My son also really likes the reusable napkins they offer that look exactly like the shop rags we use in the garage at home. Overall, worth the stop and we'll probably venture to the third location downtown our next...
