Yama Sushi — Restaurant in Columbia

Decent food, ok prices, staff friendly but very disappointed with management. After online search for sushi restaurants my search came back with this restaurant and even had three coupons for dine in or takeout - but after printing appropriate $10 off $60 bill (my bill was much higher than that) when presented to restaurant cashier was told that manager has been unwilling to honor coupon for several months. This failure to take any proactive steps over several months to appropriately set expectations for customers who go on legitimate menu website previously used by this restaurant to remove those no longer valid coupons which by the way do not have any expiration date is what warrants the low grade - especially when management can put on their new menu website that coupons from previous website are no longer valid. Even worse is the failure to understand customer service means expectation setting and then striving to exceed those expectations - not ignoring them - especially when a gesture of goodwill goes a long way and failing to even attempt to manage expectations does not - in my case the $10 was less than 10 percent of my bill before taxes and would have prevented this review and my expectation to...

I've been here multiple times for all recent birthday celebrations, I cannot boast and rave about this restaurant enough. The sushi is ALWAYS delicious, ALWAYS fresh. They also have rice dishes with either teriyaki or hibachi chicken, beef, shrimp or salmon (ALWAYS perfectly, never overdone) . You can tell that the staff here takes pride in their dishes because when it comes out, it's always so beautifully displayed and equally tasty. Suki is also amazing she and the staff there are always welcoming and ready with wonderful tasty recommendations. YAMA sushi also comes with a nice selection of spirits, yummy cocktails and sakes (they are very generous with the spirits in cocktails as well with other drinks) one of my favorites is their seared salmon, it's so delicious, rich and practically melts in your mouth. Their handrolls are also tasty and packed, salmon and flavor, I love the texture, crunchy seaweed, firm sticky rice with buttery salmon. Yama Sushi is a family-owned and operated restaurant and it is a refreshing change from the chains! Delicious sushi and succulent meals prepared with pride. Awesome and friendly customer service. I have been coming to this location for over 12 years. Simple but top notch meat and seafood entrees coupled with world-class customer service from beginning to end! Upon entering the establishment, we were immediately greeted by a very friendly host.

For dinner, I ordered Filet Mignon Hibachi and my wife ordered Chicken Hibachi. Both meals were prepared and cooked to perfection. We also had Water with No Ice and Lemon. Our server was extremely friendly and she and the owner made sure that we were attended to. The restaurant is kept clean and has very clean bathrooms.
